Priority R2 Delivery for R1 Owners

RJ just called. My R2 is estimated for priority delivery in two years ?

Seriously, Rivian is smart to do this! Before putting brand new customers into a Rivian put employees and existing experienced owners in to test the waters.

Not to mention that Rivian faithful will tolerate and accept all the infant mortality and quality issues for newly designed and produced products.

Rivian faithfuls are glad to be the Beta Testers...

Did I get some fortuitous breaks? Absolutely, but I could only take advantage of them because I had the tools to be able to do so.

I have to agree with this.

It's too easy to give into immediate gratification at a very high costs. It's very easy to spend, and very hard to save (invest) for another day. Takes discipline and dedication to improve the financial situation.

Amen, brother. Shipmates ask how the hell I can afford the Rivian payments, then buy a Lightning cash and flipping in the early days. I explained my back-to-back deployments, available savings plans, downright stinginess for 4 years, and controlling expenses (fixed mortgage) while pay and BAH climbed.

Any fellow uniformed members: get underway or deploy, see the world and save up money! Take those jobs with special pay, cut your teeth on the long hours, it LITERALLY pays off in the long run.

I wonder how many like me were 100% going to go for an R2 because I like the size better, but then saw the R3X and now the R2 means nothing to me ?

I bought my first rivian with my post deployment money, I also renovated my whole house. I hardly spent a dime while I was on deployment, I didn't go out drinking, didn't stay in hotels while.in port, also worked other people's watches for $$$.
Now that I am out, I get 100% va disability p&t. I am also a firefighter, so if I need some extra cash, I work overtime or do wildland deployments. I can make 25g's in two weeks of work.
