Just got delivery yesterday. This is my first rivian and first EV so please be kind if I'm missing something obvious. I wanted to try highway assist but double clicking the right selector it only says "highway assist unavailable".

I was definitely on a highway and was going 55 mph. I tried both with and without a route planned in the nav.

Regular cruise control DOES work.

I've seen other posts of people complaining about after a software update but no clear consensus it was even a problem or what a fix might me.

Is my new car trash or am I an idiot and missing something?

It doesn't work on ALL highways, only pre-mapped ones. No, there is no list. Stick to major Interstates, and it should work. Also, it won't generally work in construction zones, and you must be going pretty straight in order to engage it. If it's ready to engage, there will be an icon near the speed limit indicator.

Ah, thanks for the clarification.
