So I'm looking to get a used r1s but with only the max battery pack to get the most range. The standard 270 is just not enough.

Is there any way to tell via the vin number. Looking on apps for used one it seems they all have the same range. Is the max battery just not that popular or are these dealers just not knowledgeable. I don't need quad motors. It's for my wife to bring the kids to school

Yep, use this guide.

I can tell you, as I have been in the market for a used R1S with a large or max pack as well, and honestly there’s nearly no Max packs available. Which makes sense because I believe they only started producing Max packs last year?

I have seen a couple via Rivian Roamer directly from Rivian locations, but they’re typically $85k+ and I think I have seen about 2 in the past few months.

If you’re not in a rush, I assume more will come available as time passes, but since they’re still such a recent option, it may take a while for any deals.

I was thinking of selling my R1S 2024 Launch Edition Quad with Max Pack and I was quoted $70k for the trade-in value from Rivian. I thought it was gonna be way less but was told they sell quickly. I’m not too excited about the Gen2 updates so I decided to hold onto it.

Yeah, gen 1 Max pack was not a great seller. It was barely better than large.

Gen 2, the max pack is WAYYYYY better than large, so there are far more of those

I don't disagree. I have a R1T Dual Standard and it's great for driving kids around locally, and still totally functional for my work trips down to Boston (4.5 hours each way) several times/year.

The only reason we are pursuing a Large/Max R1S to replace our Tesla is to make sure we have one vehicle that can road trip more functionally in addition to daily driving.

I just bought a 2024 Performance Dual Max Pack from Carvana for $75k. It’s the holy grail of R1S’s as far as I’m concerned.

They’re out there, but you won’t find them available by just looking. You’re going to have to sign up for every used car site to receive their push notifications. That’s what I did and I’m sure I’m not the only one. My wasn’t even listed for 2 minutes by the time I snagged it.
