To be clear, my point is more that the loss of backseat functionality isn't worth the extra space the GT gets from the odd shape. Basically everything you named would also fit into a much smaller opening that would accommodate a fully rectangular rear door.I could not disagree more. I use the gear tunnel practically every day. Tennis bag, ski poles, gym equipment, my disc golf bag & discs, any trip to the grocery store. I even put my pizzain there for the drive home.
When I was working from home 3 days a week, I’d put my laptop in there the days I went into the office (now I just keep it at work…silent protest after they yanked our Work From Home last month…).
Furthermore, it’s the first thing I show someone when they ask me about my truck.
The only thing I've seen mentioned so far that wouldn't really fit is a golf bag, and that's kind of my point. The odd shape was a poor design choice and it has real impacts on how passengers get into the rear seat.
