From where I was standing, your running boards saved you from having some door PDRI think a great time was had by all.
I should have removed the running boards. They got borked pretty decently. The EVBase ones I have are a terrible design if you're going to be off-roading. They're poor design and poor quality. Several others with boards didn't have any issue at all, or might have had some slight bending that was easily solved.
I'll either take them off for the next trip (and I will be going again), or I'll have a better quality setup by then.
That said, yeah, definitely not as robust as some dedicated sliders.
To be completely honest: that's the most aggressive we've gone out the entire time I've been doing this. I think Kyle/Off-road consulting figured out we're (typically) an adventurous bunch and our trucks are ridiculously capable. So, they took the kid gloves off this weekend. I'm personally glad for it (though my wheels have some new battle scars)!
Glad you had fun and hope your kiddos enjoyed themselves as well!
Hope to see you out there again, good sir! Great meeting you!
