Does the twraps mat only take 1 usb port in gen 2? Or like the soonish mat replacement does each puck require its own port?

Can a splitter be used on the soonish system?

Ours (TWRAPS) uses only one port for now, but you should have in mind that current SW versions have issues. The Rivian doesn't handshake properly with anything leading to just 5V output most of the time (it's hit or miss, if you plug/unplug enough many times you will eventually get 15V for a ride, then back to 5V). As a result, charging speed is about 7W total, so if you put 2 phones on the charger, the e-fuse will likely trigger and disable the USB-C ports until the next drive or a soft reboot (I've seen both behaviors on my R1S). I've generally been hoping that Rivian fixes this but I got my Gen2 R1S back in July 2024, so it's been well over half a year and still no fix. If they don't fix it soon we may revert to 2 separate pucks too. Another fun way to test how bad these USB-C ports are is to plug a laptop (MacBook for example) into them. If they were 60W as claimed and the SW worked properly, the Mac would charge. What happens instead is that the e-fuse gets triggered again
With that said, USB splitters do not work with charging pucks and Gear Guard - I've tried.

I replaced my charging pad with the one from OpenSourceEV. It uses the internal port of the existing charging pad to keep both USB ports free. I have a Gen 1 R1T but this one is also compatible with Gen 2 except for access card scanning. Ultimate MagSafe Charging Pad V2.1 – OpenSource EV Parts

Soonish plugs into factory harness on my gen1 no need to use a usb port.

In process of removing the need of Rivian USB ports. I have a harness (production sample in route to me now) that will add two USBs ports inside our base.

Should have the production sample this week.

Anyone who has ordered or will order the gen2 charger will get the harness included.

If it has usb ports inside the base does that mean the need to disassemble again to get access to the “other” jon usb harness. Debating need to tear down once vs twice

Yes but disassembly would be 1 min or less. As you would have access to the port.

4 A @ 13.6 V~ 55 watts. Plenty for two pucks.

So figure 15-20 watts depending on the puck and device.

I just ordered the gen 1 topo charge a couple of days ago and it hasn’t shipped yet. Will I be getting the new harness?

Gen1 doesn't have a new harness. Gen2 is the one that has a new harness.
