Rivian raised their rates just before Presidents Day Weekend. They just raised it again just before Memorial Day Weekend at some RAN locations. Last week it was $0.39/kWh in Sacramento and $0.44/kWh in Manteca, CA. Today it was $0.46/kWh in Sacramento and $0.54/kWh in Manteca.

They did lower the price for Santa Nella, Firebaugh, and Buttonwillow from what it was earlier this month.

Why wasn't the title of this thread "RAN pricing goes down again!" if they lowered prices at 3 stations?

This isn't President's day weekend. It's Memorial Day and it honors those who have died for our country. Failing to properly remember them is a bigger injustice than any charging price increase.

Let’s not forget that while Rivian can choose their own pricing for RAN stations, they are still subject to the many weird billing practices and policies of electric providers across the country. It’s possible they are facing surge pricing and passing that along to customers, which is exactly what they should do since they are running a business, not a charity.

And to go even deeper into the Inception, it’s possible it’s not the fault of the electric providers either. If they don’t generate all the electricity they distribute to customers, they would be purchasing power from the energy markets, which fluctuate quite a lot depending on the time of day, demand, etc… That filters down to customers.

He wasn’t stating that this is President’s Day weekend. He was comparing this rate increase right before a holiday, to the last time they raised rates right before a holiday.

Rivian raised their rates just before Presidents Day Weekend. They just raised it again at some RAN locations

DCFC pricing is going to be like gas, it will go up and down and be different per location. I use the cheaper rates on my trip based on where I stop but do not drive out of my way to find the cheaper locations. Honestly just happy to know that places are opening and it is getting so much easier for cross country travel in an EV.

Here is a comparison in Barstow, CA is RAN appears to be slightly more competitive

RAN 56 cents

Tesla non-member 62 cents member 46 cents

After looking at some more RAN prices, it looks like Rivian has been feeling the sting of too high of prices and bringing them back to market. Manteca and Sacramento was the best deal around, but they are moving them up to current rates in the area.
On May 8th, I went from Joshua Tree to the Bay Area. Joshua Tree, Buttonwillow, Firebaugh, and Santa Nella were at $0.63 while Barstow was at $0.64/kWh. Looking today, they have lowered their rates: Santa Nella - $0.54, Firebaugh - $0.52, Buttonwillow - $0.55, Barstow - $0.56, and Joshua Tree - $0.58/kWh.

The price even after increase is actually not that bad. I was paying $0.60/kwh the other day.

More states are tacking on new fees to EV charging. And this administration seems intent on not simply “treating gas and EV drivers as equals” but by actually punishing EV drivers for their choice both in real economic terms by extra Federal and state fees but in a stream of anti-EV rhetoric as well. The cost of cheap propaganda and pandering to the oil industry and gas car loyalists will be handing over the automotive future directly to China.
