Hi,
My name is Zack and I am excited to be joining the Rivian community for the first time with my 2025 R1s in a week. I am excited to finally make the move to the EV world and really stand behind Rivian after hearing RJ Scaringe speak as well as learning where the company is headed. I work as physical therapist/medical manager for a national sports team and travel internationally quite often. I am a rock climber, trail runner and also play hoops one in awhile. I am based in Salt Lake City, UT.

Picking up a 2024 RS1 dual performance large pack on Thursday. Coming from a 2021 Audi etron. I can’t wait! It has the factory stealth ppf which I’m good with (lots of highway miles). I’m in Kohler, WI.

Hello Rivianians! (Is that a thing?)
I am the proud new owner of a Gen 2 R1S Dual Max Battery! I'm in love!

I also happen to own my own composite design and manufacturing business in Seattle. I'm planning to deck this beauty out in some classy carbon fiber touches. Perhaps replace all the black plastic parts?

Any ideas or thoughts on what you would want to see in carbon fiber? The sky is the limit!

Welcome and congrats on your new ride! It looks great and you look very happy. Schedule your first warranty appointment now so you'll have one already when you need it in a few months. ;)

As for CF, I'd love to do the entire truck in CF. Shave off a bunch of weight to improve the performance even more. Making my topper out of CF would be nice as well.

I love CF from more of a functional perspective than aesthetics. I like how it looks of course, I just like the difference it can make. A set of CF wheels on one of my motorcycles was worth the thousands I spent on them.

New member, joining from Ontario, Canada! I reserved my R2 back on March 25th, 2024...and am anxiously awaiting updates on delivery date expectations for 2026.

Looking forward to learning from existing Rivian owners' experiences, and all feedback/updates this forum has to offer!

Welcome. Ontario is synonymous with the OPP. Just thinking about the OPP still gives me a pain in the wallet.

Hopefully, you'll get your R2 earlier rather than later in 2026 but nobody ever knows with these kinds of things.

Hello,

I’m a Honda Fit enthusiast lusting over both R3s.

Rented an IONIQ 5 and decided I wanted to go electric. Driven a couple used IONIQs but something just wasn’t right. Driven ID.4s as well. I’ve gotten close to purchasing both, but always backed out, hoping for something better.

Currently a reservation holder for the R2, and looking forward to those R3s.

Hi All:

My wife and I took delivery of our R1S Dual Max Pack a few weeks ago. We really like the vehicle. A bit about us : we are full-time RV'ers, we've never owned an RV before, and we're old. I know, sounds like a recipe for disaster, right?

First: we're old. So that means we have no idea how to interact with this vehicle. But we're learning. We actually have most of the basics down and are working on secondary and tertiary stuff like how do we get the radio to default to "off." Another thing about being old is I don't know much about online interactions. Was I supposed to reply to the administrator for this post or start a new thread. Sorry if I did it wrong!

Second: we've never owned an RV before. We spent the last year+ traveling in a Ford Transit Connect with a roof top tent. This arrangement worked well until we got into windy conditions. Since we both discovered that we really like being in the southwest (quite windy at times), we knew we needed to evolve. Hence the travel trailer (Bowlus Endless Highways Anniversary Edition).

Third: we're full time RV'ers. We much prefer staying off the big roads, so fast chargers are few and far between. Fortunately, we're not in a rush. The portable charger paired with a 50 amp campground service works well for us. The problem is that so many campgrounds try to prohibit that. I'm sure it's a different part of this forum, but where do I go to advocate for metered electrical service (and appropriate charges) at campgrounds? This seems like a no-brainer!

A little bit about us: my wife is from MI originally. I was born and raised in DC where we met. We spent about 35 years there together. Before the Rivian, we had a Chevy Bolt EV. That was about my favorite vehicle ever, and if we weren't traveling (and towing), I'd still be happily tooling it around. I had an office job (photo archivist) for a little over 30 years, then we started a brew pub. (We managed some residential apartments to.) We closed the pub at the end of 2023 and have been traveling since.

I hope this was a proper intro. It's good to be here.

-Bill

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good! Why not do a lease on one of those cars while you're awaiting the R2 or R3? You're missing out on the EV experience in the meantime. Lots of good EV lease deals out there now, especially while the federal EV credit is still available.

What's up Rivian Forums!

My name is Tony. My wife, Chaun, and I got our 2025 Dual Motor Max Pack R1S three weeks ago.

We also own a 2021 Long Range AWD Model Y. We've been on dozens of road trips in our Model Y and really fell in love with EV Car camping. We still love the Model Y (my personal robotaxi, lol) but we got the R1S because it's roomier and better for car camping and overlanding. We are planning to go on the road for the second half of 2025 and will be living out of the R1S full-time.

Right now we're getting ready, prepping out systems, building out and kitting up the R1S. You can find some videos about that preparation process (and eventually about the actual travels) in the youtube channel linked in my signature.

I've only run into one RV park that prohibited me from charging off the panel in my Model Y it was an older campground in West Yellowstone. But otherwise, I've been to a dozen RV campgrounds run by different state park systems (CA, OR and AZ) as well as private campgrounds that didn't give me any issues. I really hope that streak continues!

Also, if you plug into TT-30 outlets, make sure that your NEMA 14-50 to TT-30 converter is rated for EV chargers. As I understand it, the 14-50 to TT-30 converter plugs meant for RVs don't have a certain neutral or ground wire or something, and if you use them with your mobile EV charger, you could trip a breaker. Now that I think about it, that might be the experience that the campground in West Yellowstone had that caused them to ban EV plug-ins as their policy.

Thanks for your reply! I do have one of those 30->50 converters (based on a recommendation from this forum), but I haven't used it yet. I'm finding plenty of appropriate 50 amp outlets and charging successfully overnight. But I feel a little sneaky doing it.

Some parks say "no EV charging" pretty prominently in their policies, and we avoid them. Most don't seem to address it one way or the other. So we charge discreetly. But what I'd love to see is parks advertising as "EV charging welcome." Add a meter (pretty cheap upgrade) if you're worried about consumption and charge for usage.

The percentage of people towing RV's with EV's is admittedly small. But judging from this forum it's not nothing. And if the word got out that you could charge reliably at parks, the numbers would probably grow. It seems like welcoming parks are a potential solution to a sparse charging network, and RV'ers looking to charge are a business opportunity. Everybody wins!

And given that the infrastructure (at parks) is a) less expensive and b) already installed (might need to add some meters), camp operators could sell kWh's profitably for less than the cost of a fast charge. Another win!

Theres a RV park near my Cabin that strictly says no EV Charging. I asked the campground host about it, and its not because of the cost, but because the "owners" think that most EV fires happen from charging. Since they are in a Forest I can see how they would want to stay away from the fire thing, but I think they need to re-evaluate their thoughts about charging causing fires.
