This isn't just a Rivian thing, if your mods are blocking the jacking points why would you expect them to work on things they don't supply and risk damage. The jack pucks Rivian service uses are huge, like dinner plate huge for stability on their lifts that is the reason why they refuse service.

Also removing the boards is not that hard on this truck, can be done in your driveway without a jack in less than an hour.

None of the running boards I’m aware of are blocking the jacking points on Rivians. Both my R1T and R1S have had service done in SSF and SJ and never had an issue with my boards being on.

As I stated the jack pucks they use are huge like 10 inch diameter which will not fit, you are thinking of the tiny after market ones and assuming they use those.

SSF and SJ had to lift both my vehicles and they never indicated any concerns with the running boards.

That's great they worked around it but that isn't their standard practice as indicated by this thread.

How are they using large pads to jack up the vehicles? Wouldn't they crush the plastic aero covers? If they're jacking from the suspension, I don't think any running boards block that (how would your truck work if they did)?

I recall seeing an image of what kind of pucks Rivian uses - it looks similar to the ones we consumers buy:

The large part of the puck sits below the plastics but would obviously interfere with some running board supports so their policy is to just say no to everything. The pucks you show are the mobile service pucks for portable jacks the larger ones are for the fixed lifts. I'm assuming some SC are just using the mobile ones to make customers happy.

I hadn't seen the wide-bottomed pucks before. I could see how that might interfere with the bracket positioning on some running boards.

Is there a standard process? Feels like it’s Seevife center specific.

Unfortunately, we've found that this varies from service center to service center, and yes--even from advisor to advisor. The reality is, we deliberately designed our running boards to retain the factory jacking locations so there is no need to remove them to access the jacking points. Maybe some of them use different jack pucks as pointed out above.

Well, guess what - Rivian Service Center in Dallas just reversed course again. Now saying they can only remove, and will not re-install, and asked me about the star-shaped heads on the bolts that hold the running boards on. Very unhappy. Service center rep told me it is Rivian policy. Seems like someone from EVsportline should either provide a warning to customers, or get this sorted out with RIvian.

Dang sorry to hear that.

My Rivian just got a bunch of front suspension replaced with gen 2 pieces and they were able to leave my EVBASE ones on.

They warned me that they might have to charge me to remove em but they didn't end up needing to

It's just maddening that you get inconsistent anwers depending on the day and the person you talk to. While I love the running boards, it's not going to work if I have to go through this every time they have to jack up the vehicle for some reason. Strongly considering leaving them off.

Very interesting about the Dallas SC. My R1T had to be towed on week 3 of ownership (2wks after installing the EV Sportline sliders). They would have most certainly had to put it on a lift as the failure was a hose coming loose from the air suspension distribution block. Not a peep about them. I just dropped my T off again yesterday for HVAC work and not a peep about the sliders by the service advisor or the tech that did a test drive with me to see the issues)....even saw a S parked in the service drop off area with running boards/sliders installed. I know the sliders have a hole in the skid plate for the pucks, but I've honestly not tested for fitment as of yet.

Just my 2 cents as it's specific to the SC in question....

One more update. Dropped off the vehicle and it took a day longer than expected. They did give me UBER credits for the entire time they had it. Charged me $400 for taking the running boards off, and did not put them back on - just loaded them into the back of the R1S. Got the vehicle home, and found they lost a couple of the bolts. Got replacements at Home Depot (thank God!), and it took less than two hours to re-install, which was much faster than it took to install in the first place.
Now, after the A/C drain plug recall fix (which is why the vehicle was at the SC in the first place) the A/C doesn't work properly. Don't know if this is because of something they did while in the SC, or because of a software update, or some unrelated cause like a sensor problem. What happens is that the A/C works fine for about 10-15 minutes, then can't keep up and air turns noticeably warmer coming out the vents. Setting the temp to LO causes it to work great again for a while, then it stops keeping up and air turns warmer again. Turning it off briefly (2-3 seconds) and turning on again seems to restart the cycle and I get cold air again.

Using the Rivian app, I was able to get an appointment for Nov 7 (I'm not kidding). Today a Rivian service person called and wasted a bunch of my time verifying information, and then told me if I called back next week (when I'm back in town) they could get me in within 24-48 hours.

My bottom line is this: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Rivian R1S. I thankfully have had very few problems. But these truly awful service experiences may just keep me from ever buying another Rivian. They are the worst I have ever experienced with any make of vehicle, and I've owned a lot of domestic and foreign vehicles. I hope they get it fixed. I have an R2 on order, but I am strongly considering cancelling due to the terrible experiences with service.
