If they aren't the same thing then why are they lumped together on Tesla's "safety report" that you claim validates FSD safety?? :CWL:

Seems like you combine, then separate them when it suits your argument....
FSD and autopilot don't have the same speed handling.

Basically autopilot and cruise control only slow down for speed limits. They do not speed back up when the speed increases

I don't know why

FSD has no problems speeding back up when the speed increases

It's like it's deliberately programmed that way. FSD even when it would be running navigate on autopilot didn't have this problem. It is a limitation of autopilot because it is a free product

Tesla doesn't make any differentiation between FSD and AP for their data publication.
The speed limit signs problem is not with FSD or AP. It's just the basic speed control (I.e. cruise control)
I don't use FSD or AP because I've had too many problems with them doing stupid things.
Now I don't even use the the basic cruise control since it too is just stupid.
Autopilot/cruise control does not increase speed limit. It only slows down. That's not a bug. That is how it is designed.

The Traffic Aware Cruise Control (TACC which is the lowest level of Tesla ADAS) will decrease the car speed by following speed limit signs (such as when coming into a town) and will increase the speed by following speed limit signs when leaving town.
The problem is that it only increases the speed up to 55 MPH when leaving town and can't be set to a higher speed (typically 65 or higher) making it useless.

Damn. What a terrible, disappointing morning. Get a nice coffee ready, sit down at my desk, open this thread expecting two more pages of purse-swinging and pearl clutching, but nothing.

I had a conversation last night with a neighbor who has found a significant difference in AP behavior between the model 3 and Y. I've also heard this from other people. And they totally failed to even get AP in the Cybertruck (a $100k truck with no adaptive cruise is hilariously sad). I wonder what the difference is in the 3/Y?

When you start thinking of basic safety and transparency as “pearl clutching“ and “purse swinging” (whatever the F that is supposed to mean), you should probably take a step back and ask what kind of human you have become..

Do better.

If I ever do that, certainly.

Among the most unintentionally hilarious things I have ever seen posted on a car forum. Perhaps take your own advice and ask yourself if hurling vitriol at strangers on the internet 11K times is a good use of your life.

We have a Highland 3 and Juniper Y. The new Y seems to be quite noticeably smoother and more confident. Meanwhile Cybertruck FSD is terrible. It does seem to be a bit specific to the vehicle model, which is not really talked about much, kind of implies training doesn't transfer super well between them. I have near zero confidence it would port to other manufacturers' vehicles any time soon, as Musk claims. I do personally think them yoinking Autopilot from CT after the fact is diabolical. At that point, they should include FSD with every truck.

And also, basing that vitriol on a narcissistic assumption about who I was talking about, and what it meant. Or that it was even negative at all.

I'm still confused by the lack of legal action on this. I would consider this a critical feature that every car must have. There's no way I'm owning a car without some self driving ever again. CT owners seem to have a certain level of Musk worship though.

One of the most intentionally hypocritical posts I have ever seen posted on a car forum.

When in the same post you accuse someone of "hurling vitriol" (without proof) and implying they haven't accomplished anything with their life (without proof), you might not be the the best messenger. And somehow you managed to do it without even mentioning the original point. :CWL:

Your lack of self awareness is truly stunning...

What good are forums without the vitriol?

I've read a lot of @COdogman's posts since joining.

Nobody is at their best when trying to prove others wrong, and @COdogman doesn't seem to be any exception -- but the vast majority of @COdogman's posts 10,560 posts (so far) aren't even close to "vitriol."

@COdogman is one of the funniest members of this forum -- as willing to tell a good joke at his own expense as anyone else.

Overall, @COdogman is a wonderful part of this great Rivian community.

Best to all!

Thank you for the kind words, Dave (and for setting the world record for @ing in a single post). I appreciate your level headed fairness when we (me included) need it most:)
