Have a White RS1. I am on my third set of State of Californian Clean Air Vehicle Decals as they keep coming off! (cuss words implied) I put them down low where they go on the grey/back trim (cleared first) and they fall off. I would hate to put them up higher on white body. They are a slime green color. Have others in California had this problem? If so what was your remedy? TIA.

I used PPF film meant for the clean air stickers (you can buy them and they are precut in that shape). The PPF goes on first (you can use water or some quick detailed) then you stick the clean air vehicle decal over that. Or you can pre stick them together and apply the PPF to the vehicle.

Isn't the program going away in 2 months?
Exactly. It all ends in September, so I would not stress. In fact, if you get a new EV in Cali, the strong recommendation is to NOT get a decal now. This way, if the program comes back, you can get the full term.

Twraps tinted PPF on the body above the plastic trim worked for me. Added bonus, the tinted ppf over top subdued the lime green color.

I do not use mine that much so I put them on magnetic sign material I picked up on Amazon and only put them on when I want to use them.

I used PPF from Amazon. $15

Then I attached the HOV stickers on the PPF to the paint.

The stickers/ppf come off without damage to the paint. Highly recommend.

How do you attach magnets to an aluminum bodied vehicle?
Rear lower quarters on the R1S have enough steel to hold them. Been using them for 2.5 years, never had an issue up to 90 mph. My Tesla is all aluminum, magnets would not work on it.

Had these decals for over 5 years, NEVER put them on. If law enforcement runs your tag in California, it will show up that there are decals attached to the plate number. It’s doubtful they are going to stop you and actually have to get out of their vehicle. Big waste, and unattractive on the car.

You are assuming that they always run you plate before being pulled over. CHP will stop you and possibly give you the window tint ticket for wasting their time.

lol exactly. 99% chance you are ok. The 1% of the time, you are screwed. I just use one of the kits that lets you attach them and then remove them.
