Was going to use it but was pricey, instead went with a smart automatic switch that i found that was UL listed. Its for 240V outlets and saved my on the panel upgrade. Called the Smart Splitter from a company called neocharge. www.getneocharge.com

Electrician already reviewed my panel and told me it is full. Hot tub has taken up all the slack. Dryer confirmed 30 amps.
You mention putting it on the dryer circuit. What about the hot tub circuit? Presumably that's already running outside somewhere. Are you really going to be using the hot tub in the middle of the night when the car is charging? 😆

Yeah, agree with adding a sub panel and a 50 amp breaker & receptacle or 60 amp breaker for hardwired.

Well, my hot tub runs on a 120V "household" circuit, and part of why it can get away with that is that it slowly heats fairly constantly. When you're in it and running the jets, it isn't heating. It heats again when you turn off the jets.
