I posted this in the Rivian subreddit as well. As crazy as it sounds, I am looking at potentially swapping my 1 month old R1S Dune to a 2026 Launch Edition Quad

I received a trade in number from Rivian that is $3k more than my lease payoff, which essentially covers the money I paid at signing (I put down only the minimum DAS).

That said, my decision to move to a QUAD LE is like starting from scratch. The Dune is a pretty unique setup and a limited run, so I’m having a hard time deciding!

The Quad LE gives me launch green (love that color), lifetime connect/autonomy and of course a touch more performance. It’s not at all necessary but would be pretty fun!

They will let me keep all my Dune accessories - roof rails, max traxx, all weather mats, charging adapter etc. and throw in $1000 more in accessories plus I’d get $1000 for the self referral.

No incentives other than the $7500 EV.

Is this a horrible idea, or for those that want that ultimate head thrown back into the seat experience, worth doing? I wish they would put the dune interior inside the LE Green Quad. Temptation is real!!

As a fellow Dune owner, if you want that Quad, go for it. As you said, they are offering you $3k more than the lease pay off and all the accessories. The quad welcome package should also come with a key fob. The $1000 in self referral is gravy on top.

Personally, I am sticking with my Dune. I don't need the power of the Quad and I really like the interior of the Dune. (Pity I did not go for the color matched wheels.)

I can't help you with the numbers, but it sounds like the color and performance alone are the winning factors. I would assume the exclusivity will be greater with the Quad than the Dune for quite some time too.

Can’t go wrong either way, but I would take that deal.

I have almost no self control when it comes to buying cars, so if you can swing it...I'd say go for it!

I buy too many cars, so I can't really be the voice of reason here. I say if you can easily afford it without putting yourself in a bad spot, go for it. Yes, the dune is a limited edition, but I prefer the slate sky interior personally. Get the one you want in an ideal world or it will bother you.

I'm personally waiting to see what Rivian does for the R2 Launch Editions to decide what I want to do next. I'd consider trading in my R1S tri-motor for an R2 if the tri-motor comes out with similar performance specs, and has a tow rating of ~6000 lbs. If it's less than 5000 lbs, I'll most likely just stick with what I have now.

I love the Dune interior also. I’d actually love LE GREEN with Dune interior :) I did the satin wheels which look great! It’s much more of an impulsive buy - no one needs that much power!

I’m looking at an R2 for my wife but will depend on how my overall R1 experience is!

Yea I hear you! Unfortunately only the LE Green with black interior is available if I want a launch edition. The storm blue with slate sky interior is sold out for the R1S.

The LE Green will be unique as it’s only there for the LE Quad. But is also forces the “free” black interior. The slate sky interior looks nice - I like the two tone seats but not the very light wood.

I actually wish Rivian had done more with the options for the quads. I’m tempted to wait and not buy a launch edition, but unsure if they’ll throw incentives at the Quads to offset the EV rebate AND pay more than I owe on the trade etc etc.

The color matched wheels does make it look even nicer. It is would of, should of, could of territory for me now. :)
See I actually much prefer the satin Dune wheels. I actually like them so much I was going to get them on the Quad LE should I move forward. Not saying the color matched ones are bad, they also look nice.

I”ll go with the quad. If monthly payment is not an issue with you.
