Dropped off my R1T for a mis-aligned/warped front drivers side fender on July 8th(had reported and requested appt on May 11th, which was 12 days and about 400 miles under the 12month/12,000 alignment warranty. Had put it off because it wasn’t a big deal, then saw the factory applied PPF was tearing a bit in that area. (See attached photos of issue)Was told it would be same day maybe overnight. It’s now going on 6 weeks. They could not repair in shop, don’t was sent to a quicker turn around at a non certified body shop in Portland. They put crease in fender and new dents in door. Went back to service center and they made a PDR attempt. Nope, off to the Beaverton certified body shop. They attempted another repair of original fender before deciding that would not work and ordered a new fender. Got a message they expected truck to be ready on Thursday the 14th. Never heard anything. Yesterday I popped into app to track truck and caught it as it drove from body shop to SC. Thought I would get a message or call, nothing. Today I went into the service section to make sure I had not missed a message. I found 3 newly added service tickets generated yesterday(see screenshots). Light ring around charge port not working, a tear in the drivers door interior leather, and the best one, a crease and dents in the NEW replaced fender. I’ve left them alone to do the work, figure they will reach out when they know something. They got me a loaner R1S a week in and that was much appreciated though I could not do the off roading part of my vacation last week which was a bummer. What I’m up against know is back in May I started working with online sales to trade in my Forest green ‘24 R1T Quad on a ‘25 R1S also in Forest green. I was told to get my service appt out of the way then circle back. I have no eta on my truck now with the new issues. As if this morning there were only 3 Forest green 2025 Dual Performance R1S’s in shop for my zip code. The 2026’s are out of my price range at the moment. Then there is the expiring tax credit. Kind of stuck now. Hopefully I’ll find out more on Monday. I’m now well past the 30 days out of service stipulation of Oregon Lemon Law. I know that is not a fast process, and most likely outcome would be compensation or even a buyback. Which would be way to late to get into a 2025, and I’m not sure it would get me into a 2026. Just venting. I’m still all in on Rivian, I know none of this was on purpose and the SC is trying to help. I’m just an a anxiety prone slightly impatient person.

Interesting. My Gen1 had a mis-aligned door and it was rubbing in a similar spot, they adjusted the door problem solved.

I’ve been debating trading in and purchasing a 2026. I was told they would still accept it with open service tickets. With the tax credit expiring soon, if that’s a factor I’d try to move forward and let them repair the issues on their own time.

The Portland service center is a bit of a disaster. Appointments take months. The staff is great, and all very helpful, but they need to look into expanding into Vancouver to help with the insane wait times.

The morning I dropped it off I was told, "most likely will be done later today, but plan for overnight". He told me that they had others in the same VIN range with this same issue. The fender was re-designed at some point to add a "Backing" to help it keep it's shape. It's just a crazy thing that there have been so many attempts to fix and failed. How has it came back damaged from the body shop two times. I know it spent 2 days at a tint/wrap place having the factory applied PPF restored after the "repairs" to door and fender. So, this is costing Rivian tons of money. The message after the service center got the truck back after the first body shop "fixed" it was "we are going to inspect, and once we get the thumbs up will call for you to pick up. Should be a couple hours" I never got a message back that day, the next got the message that it was now damaged further than went it left, and now had dents in door. How did the body shop fail to tell Rivian they screwed up worse and if it was as bad as it sounds, why did they accept it back. So, confused.

I was exploring a 2025 R1S end of may as they had a promo for an extra $3K on a Rivian trade in as well as some great lease deals. Then when talking about my trade in and upcoming service was told to hold off until I had service take a look. A week back I reached out to my service advisor and expressed that I was interested in some sort of trade in on an R1S, hoping that my situation might prompt a better trade in offer. He set me up with the onsite sales person. He said he was aware of my situation, but that was as far as that went. he sent me a link to the generic trade in estimator. Which came back about $4K less than the offer I had back in May, leaving me to pay the $7K difference(which would have been a bout $1K out of pocket with the last trade in offer and extra $3K trade in bump). He also kept trying to steer me towards a dual standard. While my daily driving habits would support a standard, I live in rural Oregon, travel to the Oregon coast, Portland, central Oregon, and Seattle often. I explained the standard is listed at around 92KW, my last trip to Central Oregon I used 90lw just getting to my first charging option. He then sort or relented and said my situation was too complex for him to be any help. I have decided I can probably swing a 2026, as long as they give me a better trade in offer. The roadblock now is can this all happen before end of September and tax credit expiring.

I would pursue buyback personally.
I am at that point. I have tomorrow off and need to run into PDX anyways so I think I'm going to stop in an see about talking with a service manager. The service advisor I have been dealing with has been fine, but it's pretty obvious his role is to update folks, answer basic questions, and basic info on repair status nothing in depth. I'm hoping to get a more detailed explanation of what happened, when, and how they plan to proceed, with at least 4 attempts to fix my issue, but only making it worse each attempt it seems. When I picked up the loaner back in July I attempted to ask and got a semi-explanation, and I'm honestly not the type of person to push things. I've worked in retail management for 30 years, I know the front line folks don't have the authorization nor knowledge to answer a lot of questions, so I'm not going to take my frustrations on them, nor anyone else. I'm a fairly mellow dude who turns to internet forums to vent. 😂

When I found the PPF starting to rub and peel, it was May 11th, reported it, sent pictures, and made appt, the first being the July 8th. When I got an estimate of $110 I replied to make sure I was still covered even though by the time of the appt I would be past the 12 month/12,000 mile adjustment warranty. I picked up my truck on May 23rd 2024, and the day I reported the issue was at 11,560 miles. Was told it was going to be covered as I reported it and made appt while warranty was in effect. I knew I would have to go into PDX for any service, and I'm still fine with that. This is one of those situations that just sort of snowball and become terrible on my side of things.

Uff, I barely made it pass 4 lines of your initial post. I suppose paragraphs or spacing is no longer used by so many nowadays.

I hope you get your issues resolved or a replacement.

Hope it works out for you. Our R1S Bluey has been like your photos from day1 (sans ripped ppf) - we decided not to do anything about it as just cosmetic, and didn’t want to risk the rabbit hole it unfortunately looks like you’re going down, which i hope ends up better than our luck with our R1T.

BR VERY CAREFUL!!

I gave in my 22 R1S to the Brooklyn NY service back in April of 24, for service should have taken 2-3 days. They kept on delaying it for weeks. Finally on a very busy morning approximately 6 weeks later I went to pick up the vehicle. I just sat into the car and drove off without inspecting it.
I personally was extremely busy at work that season and had used daily my work car. And this was parked in the garage.
after about a month later I finally had a moment and drove out the Rivian I saw that the driver Fender had a tiny dent and the Head light has a clip from the fender on top of it.
I took pictures of it and notified the service center and they denied having touched that part of the car during these 6 weeks in service. Since I had no proof although I knew 100 percent that I never had any fender bender with this car I just had to accept the fact that my car is damaged now and I will get it fixed at a later date.
Fast forward a year! I gave my R1S for another service center for wheels and basic service so I asked them if they can please fix that light clip for me and I will pay for the labor.
shockingly I got a call from them while in service that they cannot do it because under the fender are items bent. I looked when I got the car back more closely, I saw many items are secured with tie wraps, which isn’t the way this should be originally! And again. I am 100 percent it happened in the Brooklyn service center But they deny it.
so just be extremely careful after service to inspect the car thoroughly

I wish if Rivian would offer a report of the daily activity in service. What happened during these 6 weeks. Instead of 2-3 days.
