So, it appears that I butt-dialed my R1T this afternoon.

I went to the gym after work. When I returned to the office parking garage there were two security guards standing next to my truck. The tailgate was down, hood open, windows vented and the right gear tunnel door unlocked (not fully open). The alarm had gone off which got the security guard’s attention.

Nothing is missing. Nothing suspicious on gear guard. It sure looks like I stuffed my phone in my pocket without locking the screen, butt-dialed the Rivian app, and ran down the list of controls.

I'm thinking that I need to get into the habit of closing the app after locking the truck. I don’t use proximity locking. So, leaving the app open doesn’t really serve a purpose.

Has anyone here pulled a boneheaded move like this? Any suggestions for an easy way to prevent it from happening?

I opened the hood remotely once while signing title documents for a new house (while it was raining outside even). Kind of embarrassing, it would be nice if the app could require a fingerprint scan as confirmation.

I thought a notification is sent warning you a door, hood or tailgate is left open. If not, Rivian should implement this.

You could configure the lock/unlock button on your iPhone Home Screen. Hard press it to lock/unlock.

Yes the app will notify you, eventually. This all happened just before I returned to the garage. I’m not sure how long it takes, but the app does wait awhile before pushing notifications about open doors and such.

Thanks for lock screen tip. I have a well-developed reflex for squeezing the physical lock button. But my phone case can sometimes hinder the physical button activation.

I accidentally vented my windows once, so I moved my large widget to the second page on my Home Screen. I still have the smaller app icon on page 1, but now I can sleep at night:fingerscrossed:

I do too, but sometimes it’s still unlocked when I put it back in my pocket. And some fabrics seem to interact with the screen while others don’t.

Definitely first world problems.

Don't feel *too* bad.
I once struggled for a few minutes trying to figure out why my app wasn't opening my hood. (I mean, it does happen occasionally that it's unresponsive, so...my brain defaulted to assuming it just wasn't playing nice.)

After some frustration subsided and I just opened my hood by pushing the button on the truck after juggling a handful of things... I realized. I had my app switched to my wife's truck.

To this day I do wonder if anyone was in the same parking lot her R1S was parked wondering why this vehicle's hood suddenly opened, remained open for about 15 minutes while my wife's dumdum husband realized he's a dumdum, and then closed. :D

I put the widget on a separate screen, so I have to intentionally swipe to that screen. I try not to obsess over watching the truck all the time. I've definitely had this issue with my Garmin Edge bike computer, it will get totally wacked out if I throw it in a sweaty bike jersey pocket.

My pet peeve is not notifying you if a window has been left open unintentionally. My 8 year old Prius tells me a window is still open when I turn off the car. Tesla does it, come on Rivian.

Thanks for confirming that I am not the only dummy to do this. It was rather embarrassing to explain to the security guards that it was my fault. They were very polite and professional. And also a bit disappointed as they were initially convinced that they interrupted a thief who had cloned my keyfob.
