There are a handful in the area around Boston. I had to travel 2 1/2 hours to one, but 2 of those hours were on the ferry. I pick it back up this week.

Yeah, Boston is 4+ hours south from me. The Chelsea SC is technically 3.5 because I’m coming south towards it and avoid the madness of central Boston metro traffic at least.

I've started the process for this. Parts ordering looks to be free. Anything more than that carries a cost.

$2500 a year for service manual and training, $5500 for the above plus diagnostic tools. Not sure if I am really supposed to share that but ?‍

Let's get some folks together and split the cost for a manual. I know there are other DIY'ers out there. Anyone with me?

The smart move is to do it under a 501c7, one of the Rivian Clubs to cost share and properly organize it.

DIY is a good idea. It's not for everyone, but there are some that could benefit from this approach. Rivian would also benefit from such a plan.

When the R2 hits the street, Rivian better be ready with a better service system than the one currently in place. With VW using Rivian software, maybe VW and Porsche Dealers could become ad-hoc Rivian service centers.

Sure, I'm interested. My motivation is from a revived salvage repair POV wherein it's next to impossible to bring a rivian to any service center.

Not totally sure I'll follow through on the whole program. Still need to figure out what the real limitations are. Like if modules can be reprogrammed for a different VIN for replacement reasons, if I could reprogram for a different tire size, etc.

I'm currently using someone else's partner portal, but I think it's time I get my own. I've got some ideas for parts/instructions DIY reselling, and just to order my own things.

How did you register for it? And what did you need? I have docs for the 501c19 I Treasure and resell merch through, and have my friend's LLC docs for his drone work.
