It's really no more than having one more device connected to a cell plan - think smartwatch. That's how I approach these subscriptions.

In rural/mountainous areas of the country, I find Rivian's AT&T network to be a nice alternative to my Verizon phone. When one is absent, sometimes the other is present. God forbid I'm not connected! ;)

I am also keeping mine, great value for what it gives in my mind, especially on road trips when the kids want to watch their iPads and just connect to the hotspot (yeah yeah I know I can tether but that requires me to click "Approve" on their requests and makes my phone hot).
I only wish they would add Karaoke, that's perhaps the most used feature from our Tesla that the kids miss on road trips (not sure I miss it though 😀).

Several months ago, I was the chair and Zoom host for a meeting -- scheduled exactly during a time when my wife and I had to return to the coast along the Columbia River Highway (US 30). Telephone calls are routinely dropped at several places on this route. I had Connect+.

Before leaving Longview WA, I designated an alternate Zoom host and prepared everyone to carry on after I lost signal. Then I continued, in amazement, as the Rivian kept a robust video signal all the way through the Oregon Coast Range to Astoria!

Everyone should make their own decisions about a Connect+ subscription. For me, it is 100% worth it, due to consistent and robust signal that gets things done.

Your mileage may vary....

Best wishes!

Interestingly enough, the trucks cell antenna is much stronger than my phones antenna.
I've noticed this as well, consistently, in the one area I travel to with some regularity that has poor cell coverage. Truck stays connected, phone does not. Wild guess is because the antenna is larger, and higher up (on the roof). Even if it is technically slower (4G truck vs 5G phone) speed isn't so important if it can't connect, LOL.

Imo this could be of some value to anyone who goes off-roading or into areas with weaker cell coverage.

for those without connect+

1. do you still get live traffic updates on your route? Maybe you got the live traffic before leaving your home wifi but during the drive do you still get it?
2. Live updates regarding charger availability for fast charging? Important when road tripping,.

I use Spotify and the music automatically starts where I left off when I got out of the truck. It's great. I also use TunIn for radio that is outside broadcast range. Sure I could do both from my phone using BT, but it is so much easier to use the built in apps.

Definitely worth it to me.

That includes the mobile data plan. Having retired from a telecom, it's a good deal. We have our phones use the mobile hot spot while on the road instead of chewing through our own data plan.

It sounds good to also get the detailed maps and satellite views but I'm having a hard time justifying it right now.

It's very interesting to read so many of you simply say "it's worth it". Its worth it because why?

I am just tired of subscription after subscription on just about everything. I really don't care about the cost. If Rivian had one time fee for few hundred of dollars to have the service for the life of the vehicle under my ownership, I'd do that over annual renewal.

I feel like I am being nickeled and dimed to death by everything from streaming services to now vehicles. I guess I should be happy that at least I can pay Rivian once a year and be done with it.

Why don't you let the subscription lapse for a month or two and see if your use cases require it. You can always sign back up.
exactly what my wife said. Just need to let the kids know that Disney+/Netflix/Peacock/AppleTV+/AppleMusic/Spotify are going away...
