When the audio system is on, playing the radio or other music, if you change screens and then go back to the nav screen, the pop-up showing what's playing slides out from the right side of the screen. I'm constantly swiping it away to minimize it. Instead of having it slide out by default each time you return to the nav screen, they should add an audio icon to the lower-right nav screen toolbar that you can tap to slide out the audio info panel **when you want it**.

Not just the responsiveness of PAAK, the whole architecture of Bluetooth/human/phone detection and vehicle responses. When everyone in the car has a phone and likely paired with the Rivian. Who is driving? which phone to connect to the audio? when to lock? when to unlock? when to beep? when not to beep? How close to the vehicle before open and be consistent? It seem to me that Rivian gets the wrong answer for me >50% of the time. Tesla seems to get this right most of the time >80%. Take a look at the Bluetooth and WiFi specs. They have range, identity, direction, signal strength, etc....

I bet if you go back and find a similar thread from a couple years ago, the same things will show up that Rivian still hasn't addressed yet so don't expect them to actually add any of these to their list.

  • Why does PAAK take forever to wakeup when fob can unlock immediately
It's because of your phone and it's power saving settings. The proof of which is literally that the FOB works near flawlessly.

I've verified this now with 3 different phones. S20, S20+, and S25 Edge.

My S25 Edge will wake my Gen 1 R1T from 20-30 feet away no matter how long or short the vehicle sleep cycle has been, with FOB or better consistency.

My wifes S20 will within 10 feet and typically would default to her phone and profile every time we walked up to the vehicle while I had my S20+ 5G.

My S20+ was almost always in some sort of battery saver mode to prolong it's life, and even the Rivian app if it was unrestricted, would still be neutered by the overall systems OS.

Make the important touchscreen buttons (i.e. defrost) larger so you don't have to work so hard to find things while driving. Larger target = easier to tap. Windows fogging while driving in torrential rain at night is a bad bad time to take your eyes off the road because you keep missing the icon.

Also, that double-tap requirement to advance the wipers is annoying. Again, yet one more thing one has to do while driving. I sound like my dad, but tactile interfaces are safer since all their buttons, bumps, and clicks told you where you're at without forcing you to look away from the windshield.

Remember & restore the last climate settings per driver.

This is really only an issue when you share the car with someone else and one of you likes it 55 degrees and the other prefers 75.

It's a minor issue but would be easily fixed if they knew about it.

Didn't they increase the size of the defog/defrost buttons in the most recent update? Or was that just the seat heaters/coolers?

Are you talking about the rocker switch for wiper settings? Or is there a touchscreen interface that involves the wipers that I'm not aware of?

There is one thing that I would love to have brought to my Gen1 R1T, but A) I have a feeling that it isn't happening or 2) will only happen for Gen2.... Adaptive cruise control while towing. I don't need lane keeping and whatnot, but something more than the current dumb cruise control would be nice.

I suspect this is just my own ineptitude however for whatever reason I don’t like that the blinker actuator always reverts to the center and so I find that I over correct the blinker by turning on the opposite blinker. I get how it operates (half click vs full click) but I prefer the actuator staying in the full left or right position until I make the turn (ie 3 positions). Having it always revert back to middle is annoying to me and just isn’t intuitive.

KEEP MY SETTING THE SAME AS THEY WERE WHEN I PARKED!
I hate that the screen setting revert to default everytime I get back in the truck. Why cant they remain as they were when I parked?
Too add a wish I would love to be able to customize the screen and select what I want to see and where on the screen.

I know everyone doesnt have this next gripe but I hate that I have to turn the music on everytime I get in, - why cant it pick up where we left off when I parked? or at least go onto the next song… I shouldnt have to turn it on again. Maybe it’s an Apple Music issue but it’s happened with the radio as well.

Wait, hold on, can we talk about your efficiency for a second? Did you replace the body of your R1 with a Prius?

Easy to do on the down hill. There is a max on that screen of just a bit above 10 (I've achieved above 8 on a LONG down hill). The trick is what is the round trip average?

* Headlights blinding me when I open the charge port so it takes 5 tries to plug in the charger
* I'm 6'0" and can't see the turn indicators at all because they are behind the steering wheel at its highest setting.
* Also, I'm constantly needing to turn off turn blinkers and half the time, they finally turn off 1/10 of a second before I turn them off so I'm turning them the other direction. Maybe this is user error, but I've never worried about turn blinkers in my life. Add to the fact that I can't see the turn blinker indicators on the screen and I'm sure half the people who find themselves behind me think I'm an idiot. Kind of defeats the "Wow! He has a Rivian! He must be cool!" vibe I'm going for.

I'm old school and miss my loud blinker click. The very low thump is different. but can I get an option to get the click vs the thump.

I should clarify, my complaint is when proximity setting is off at home and I unlock from app widget some days it unlocks in 10 seconds other days takes 30+ seconds. Away from the home PAAK with proximity works well 95% of the time for me.

Not sure where that delay is since the data connection on the truck is always on to receive the wakeup and unlock signals and the truck knows the phone is nearby with the quick blink of the taillights. Just no idea why it takes forever to wakeup via app but unlocks instantly with the fob, maybe if they adjusted the phone app to handoff the unlock signal to bluetooth when near the truck it might solve it.

I had the same thoughts about the people behind me. Is he going left or is he going right? And why is he going left from the right turn pocket?
