So launch in "late 2026", does that mean the earliest R2 vehicles are not going to have the gen 3 autonomy platform, or is R2 delayed to late 2026?

My guess since they are talking R2 platform it will have the hardware but the update for the PTP and full hands off will come in updates over time.So launch in "late 2026", does that mean the earliest R2 vehicles are not going to have the gen 3 autonomy platform, or is R2 delayed to late 2026?
That's my hope as well, wasn't entirely clear with the way they were talking, but hoping it'll be clear soon.My guess since they are talking R2 platform it will have the hardware but the update for the PTP and full hands off will come in updates over time.
Agree for certain types of vehicles (e.g., some trucks, sports cars). For vast majority of users, its just a transportation and given a choice of having eyes free L4 point to point self driving versus not having it will mean a difference. That's true for some people. There will always be some people that need the latest & greatest thing.
The type of person that keeps a car for ~10 years doesn't really care. Neither do the people who don't care to pay some subscription fee for self-driving whatever.
With Tesla's uptake of FSD reportedly in the ~15% range, I'm skeptical this is a market that will have mass consumer adoption without dramatically lower prices. Tesla consumers are among the most tech-interested of any brand.
This - the vehicle will still be available in 1st half 2026 (they have been going around and keeping to this date range for months!), but the autonomy parts will go live later on.My guess since they are talking R2 platform it will have the hardware but the update for the PTP and full hands off will come in updates over time.
Software is lagging the hardware, I believe. Also don't forget regulatory approvals for some of these capabilities. So launch in "late 2026", does that mean the earliest R2 vehicles are not going to have the gen 3 autonomy platform, or is R2 delayed to late 2026?
Eyes-off end-to-end.So launch in "late 2026", does that mean the earliest R2 vehicles are not going to have the gen 3 autonomy platform, or is R2 delayed to late 2026?
Dave just said "eyes off" will only be available in Gen3. But hands free will be available in Gen2.My guess since they are talking R2 platform it will have the hardware but the update for the PTP and full hands off will come in updates over time.
Big question is who holds liability in a hands and eyes off situation. These cars may be hard to insure. I know on MB for full hands off they take liability if the car crashes.
Its just the beginning of the end for G2 cars Like G1, it starts slow...Looks like R2 and Lidar for eyes-off only. Gen2 still not left behind
