Auto high beams with fog lights active

I got on the road early yesterday in heavy fog and put all fogs on for safety. The auto high beams were also active and came on a few times shining right back in my face off the fog. Does anyone else experience this? I like the auto high beams in non-foggy conditions and I don’t think it’s possible to disable them when using fog lights only but if anyone knows a way to do so please share! Thanks.

You have to turn off auto high beams
Permanently n the main screen
Settings
Vehicle
Displays and lighting
Toggle the slider button

Or

You can push or pull the lights stalk to temporarily enable/disable the high beams

Just push or pull the turn signal arm. Watch the display, it will tell you auto is activated or deactived. Low beams and fogs will stay on. As mentioned, this is temporaery for the driving session.

Yeah, I had the same issue until I realized I can just quickly disable auto-high beams with the stalk.

It annoys me that there is no way to separately turn on the fog lights permanently. On previous cars, I usually have them on for looks. yes, I'm vain...

I don’t think the 2026 has front fog lights. They moved the turn signals from the big oval to those lights and made them sequential.

Thanks for the replies - I didn’t realize the stalk could deactivate auto-high for the drive session which is good enough for me so I will do that moving forward. Happy new year and all!

If you look on the floor, just to the left of the brake, you'll see a small, aluminum cylinder. Stomp on it and your high beams will turn on.

Oh, wait. Nevermind. That was my 1977 Chevy pickup.

Yeah that’s correct. My brother just got a 2026 and he was all excited to get different color film for his fog lights and was bummed to find out there are none… haha

And next to that is a rubber bulb. Stomp on it and it squirts the windshield washing fluid.

. Of note: I had my neighbor follow me on 50 over the Sierras in extreme fog and he said my red rear fogs were clearly visible. I never heard of rear fogs before but it’s good to know that people from behind can see me in fog. The fronts worked well too.

My 2003 MINI Cooper had rear fogs. All of the cars had the lamps and wiring installed, but the switch to turn them on was an option. It could be dealer installed by replacing the center toggle switch assembly and enabling them in the firmware.
BTW the rear fog lights would cancel when the ignition was turned off. They would only be on if the headlights were on.
