Started assembling mine today (it got here well before the expected date which is awesome) before it started raining. Haven't put it on the truck yet but have some notes on install:

1. Some of the panels were bent so it took quite a bit of effort to put it together (had to file a hole down cause it wouldn't align).

2. QA on welds is pretty bad - there was a few sharp ones that stuck out about an inch that I knocked down/filed, and there's a few letters inside the etching that weren't fully knocked out - not a big deal, but just requires a chisel and a file to smooth it out once you're done - be aware that the powder coating will come off if you care about that sort of thing.

3. The hole for the bed camera is exactly that - an open hole, I'll probably put some acrylic in front of it and seal it so water/snow etc won't just drop into the bed.

4. It doesn't really feel like anodized aluminum, it's pretty flexible/soft and has a lot of play/the coating almost feels like bedliner and comes off really easily.

For the price though, the value is definitely there if you're willing to put in a bit of work to make everything straight/beef up the waterproofing.

It's also the only topper I've seen that has sliding windows on the sides, which makes it the only one that I would buy (wanted it so that I could put the dog in the back and run one or two standalone AC/heater units that would vent to the outside for slightly hotter days and snow days).

I also got the weistec adapters and will be taking it to a fabrication shop when it stops raining so we can figure out if we can make a different mounting solution so I can still use the tonneau cover. A bit worried by how flexible the metal is and sheer stress though if we were to go that route. Might just live with it but will keep y'all posted!

I was able to fab some plate brackets just from 3/16 steel. I used the mars adapters and it’s got a real nice snug fit around the whole cap. The biggest thing I would warn you about is if your goal is to keep your tonneau functional you’ll need to add some extra gasketing between the cap and bed rail edges. I’ll post a picture tomorrow showing the issue I ran into. But essentially the tonneau slats will scrape as they deploy if the cap isn’t sitting high enough up.

If you come up with something slick, have them make me a set too. I have some of the Mars adapters ready, just never got around to it. Stock work fine, have caught large items on the brackets unloading but otherwise kinda forgot them. Posted info to get the brake light going in this thread 🍻

In this video, a gentleman found that closing the vents/slots in the rear spoiler gained back much of the efficiency loss from mounting a (Thule/Yakima type) box on crossbars over the bed. I would imagine that it will be similar for a bed cap.

Update 01/02/2026

We have enough orders now and I will be submitting the next production today!
We are looking at early-February completion depending on the holiday.

Does anyone who's installed this topper live in the bay area? I'm interested, but would love to check it out in person first.
I have one installed in the east bay - ended up using the original brackets first while I decide whether or not to use the tonneau cover and lift the topper a bit so it clears the slats. Took a while to install - some issues we ran into:

- the panel misalignment made it so that one corner of tailgate wouldnt close without rubbing, had to put some washers in the bracket to raise it enough to clear

- theres some pretty hefty gaps in the sides and will definitely need to figure out a way to seal the bed camera cutout as it sticks above the truck top so it'll definitely take on a lot of water

- didnt come with mounting hardware to actually lock it into the bed. If you happen to decide to use eyebolts to have functional tie downs, you won't be able to use the spare compartment so it's a pretty big tradeoff to make (unless you want to cut out the plastics). I can reach in just enough to grab my tow straps in there but no chance im pulling anything else out.

looks good though!

About to place an order, what are current lead times looking like? Also, do I just place the deposit order now, then pay the rest later?

If anyone has a video walk around and showing the sides and back being opened that would be great. Just want a better feel for it than pictures can provide.

The current lead time is about 4-5months due to the long holiday and meeting the minimum production requirement.

Yes you would pay a deposit first and once the order is ready ship, then you can pay for the remainder and I will process the shipment.

Ok thanks for clarifying, I got my order placed. I’m guessing you don’t have any leftover stock of then?

Yes, the last stocked one was sold about a week ago. I think we will be getting another order in soon. We will just need two more orders.

I procrastinated my install for a while but finally got it more or less finished. A couple of notes:

  • I ordered storage boxes for both sides. There were no instructions included for assembly of the storage boxes, but more importantly, there are also no mounting holes in the topper itself. I had to have someone hold the box firmly in place while I marked the mounting hole locations from the storage box onto the topper and then drill the holes in the topper myself.
  • When attaching the storage rails to the top of the topper, one of the welded threaded bolts sheared off under very minimal torque. I was using a standard sized (~6") socket wrench to tighten the nut and never even got to a point that I would have called snug when the threaded bolt completely sheared off. Definitely not confidence inspiring on those materials there, but the rest of the topper felt solid. I made sure to just barely tighten down the remaining nuts to avoid any further issues.
  • One of my side access door locks won't actually rotate into the locked position when the door is closed. It seems to be hitting something in the locking mechanism that I haven't fully figured out yet. It locks just fine if the latch is undone, so it's not an issue with the key or tumbler itself, but rather the mechanism that moves into place when locking.
  • Maybe obvious, but use gloves when applying the black RTV sealant. The included tube exploded out the back on me when applying it which was fun to deal with. I ended up purchasing a couple more tubes to finish the project out. Acetone was the best solution I found for removing any sealant from your skin, but it wasn't perfect.
  • The rubber sealing strip adhesive was about as adhesive as a sticky note. That is to say, even with clamping it down overnight to try and let it really stick, it fell off immediately upon flipping the topper over to put it on the truck.
  • Two strong people could probably get the topper onto the truck if needed. We had four adults and it was very easy to lift up into place.
Finally, I use my gear tunnel a lot and wasn't okay with the idea of having to use the screen or app to open the gear tunnel doors every time. I popped the plastic off the side rails of the truck bed to access the wires going to the gear tunnel buttons and spliced in one of these switches on either side. I then drilled a hole in the topper above where the OEM gear tunnel button is and installed the switches into the holes. It works like a charm, exactly as the OEM gear tunnel buttons do without disabling the OEM buttons either. I tried to find the exact 2 pin harness Rivian uses to have a bit cleaner of an install on the inside of things, but ultimately decided just to cut the wires, strip them, and use a couple 3-port WAGO lever connectors.

I have a temporary connection of the truck topper to the truck using cam straps right now, but plan to figure out a way to use the Mars Adapters similar to what @BigIslandBrah did.

Very nice @stefprez - going to copy those buttons, hate getting my phone out every time. Keep us posted on the mounts, have a set of the Mars in the garage…
