Rivian is a no show at this years Detroit Auto Show

I've checked a few sources, not seeing them listed this year...very surprised. Last year they were giving demo rides in the EV area, so many in line had never heard of Rivian so it seemed like good exposure. They also had the R2 and EDV there.

Oh well, I guess I'll get in line to experience GM's WTF mode on the Hummer

Maybe saving marketing dollars until they get closer to the R2 launch given weak Q4 sales and what's likely to be a tough Q1 and Q2.

I will say, I was dead set on a Toyota Landcruiser and then I went for a ride at the 2025 Detroit auto show in a R1T..........and look at me now, proud R1T owner

Given the downturn in EV sales and car sales in general, and the fact that the R2 is not shipping at least until mid-year to general consumers, it's not surprising.

Rivian is going to do another big launch event for R2 in Q1, so I think they are keeping their powder dry for that event.

Seems like a miss of great R2 pre-launch marketing opportunities. Even if they are penny-pinching with the current market conditions. With others backing off the EV pace and, the R2 being the make-or-break vehicle for Rivian, they ought to be getting it hyped up NOW. Unless the launch has really moved from soon to S00N...

Based on zero information and 100% speculation I think R2 will "Launch" in May/June with deliveries starting in the fall - Sept, Oct or Nov. I would be surprised if they shipped more than 5-10,000 units in 2026.

They were at the LA Car Show but to be honest Scout stole the show.

They had a booth where you could customize your own bag or make your own survival kit.

Not sure why we need both Rivian and Scout (VW+Rivian) as they seem to cater to the same market.

That's three unrelated companies competing in a huge marketplace.

Where Rivian and Scout are competing in a much smaller market of Adventure Vehicles. Plus they have a partnership so I find it kinda funny. They're essentially competing with themselves.

I'm curious to see what will happen long term.
