If, as is being speculated, information about the R1S hasn’t been forthcoming because they have yet to finalize the production build, wouldn’t that necessitate them resubmitting EPA numbers once it’s finalized?

Not sure where you heard that. The R1S is finalized and EPA values released. They have at least two production R1S' built and delivered.
“While some salable R1S units have been built, the company still has some pre-production work to complete on the SUV, the people said.”

the Bloomberg article from Wednesday

I believe that's referring to supply chain or QC or fixes, not any sort of redesign or anything that would require retesting of the entire car.

Do you expect to see meaningful difference from 316 miles?

I believe it is meaningless difference since the driving conditions/speed and tire choice will have much more significant impact on actual range.

I can’t say because I don’t know the extent of any material changes to the R1S. But any sizable change in weight would have an impact.

Pre-production changes could be anything, something as "simple" as reworking the rear bumper fascia due to a clearance problem with the receiver, or redesigning the hinges on the fold down seats. Sometimes pre-production changes are solely to make it easier/quicker to assemble the vehicle, and have zero weight impact, such as how the headliner in the R1S is installed or fastened. These are just examples, nothing more, but It would surprise me if it was something significant enough to force redoing the EPA test.

If it’s something this simple, why the delay on information (interior overview, owners manual, ANYTHING)?

Why the delay on information? It's Rivian! ;)

I think you're putting too much credit to so called anonymous reporting on Bloomberg.

As for material weight change, its already a sub 8,000lbs vehicle. If anything, they should be working to make it lighter and not heavier.

If for some reason EPA rating (which is anything but accurate) says its 300 miles, or loss of 16 miles (~5%), will you change your buying decision??

If your criteria is that sensitive to slight change, maybe time to consider alternatives....

No, my decision final and not dependent on EPA range. I just wonder if they make changes to the R1S, will they have to redo the EPA numbers.

The EPA rates the pickup for 314 miles of range, while the SUV comes in at 316. And this is for R1T and R1S trucks and SUVs fit with Rivian's "smaller" battery pack.

I can’t imagine real world numbers would be that different from R1T. This dude got 2.75 mile/KWh average and 3.20 mile/kwh in town on 20s and conserve mode.
