Upcoming "First Mile" Mobile Test Drive Cities Announced - Chicago, Dallas, Denver, LA, Seattle, San Francisco

I am still shocked they haven't done the Mid Atlantic Area and only Focused on NYC. AFAIK We have about 100+ orders from what I tracked.

Anyone heard anything about new First Mile events and test drives? Seems like there should have been announcements of the additional cities/dates by now. Still hopeful that Denver is on the list.

Just that they Rivian staff appear as impatient as we are to get back to them.

When I spoke with CS in early Jan, I was told that they had used the crazy winter weather we experienced in December to pause and wrap up mobile drives in the Seattle area. So those trucks are either waiting to be or already have been deployed to a new region - no idea where though.

That's consistent with some recent social media posts I saw from people staffing them.

Yup, apparently there were people whose drives got canceled in December and they couldn't reschedule because Rivian were like " ?‍ guess we're leaving!".

Well at this rate all the LE holders will have their first mile drive just about the time their warranty expires.

I have been pretty surprised that this seems to have fallen off the map to some extent. Then again, it probably wouldn't matter for me as it is doubtful that any locations would be close enough to me and even if they were I doubt I'd make the list to get to drive based on my order date.

The inability to even see a Rivian in person anywhere outside of Southern California is easily my biggest source of disappointment in Rivian so far.

I posted in the Denver service center thread that the staff at the service center told me they were doing mobile drives soon. This was on Saturday when I saw them at the brewery around the corner from the service center. I didn't press for more detail though.

It's bizarre to me that they can't keep cars in major areas to complete test drives. They can't maintain 2 cars and 2 employees in 7 or 8 major metropolitan areas? Seriously??

Before I placed my order in November I asked CS if there was any plan to offer test drives and they only told me they would be announcing drive opportunities s00n. I had no idea they meant I would be waiting for a traveling circus to visit my town to do it.

I do think the travelling circus is only a temporary solution until more of the service centers are built out, at which time they will transition to appointment based drives at those locations. Rivian has also said that they are prioritizing invites for First Drives to give people who are near the front of the delivery line an opportunity to drive before finalizing their order, so the locations tend to line up with where the first deliveries will be right now.

That said, it does suck that in all likelihood I will have to drive 5ish hours to Atlanta when that Service Center opens to have any access to a Rivian. I'll be pleasantly surprised if that happens before Memorial Day.

Exactly what I was thinking. Chicago, LA, and SF people already got a chance (or will be soon) to see in person. There are probably not going to have First Mile in Seattle anytime soon.

Some of us got rained out in LA...cancelled event.
