Got hit by an HPD officer today on the way home from work. Sounded like he just turned on lights and sirens and was flying through a residential area blew through a stop sign at an intersection and slammed into the front of my truck. Couldn't see him as the corner was blind and I did not have a stop sign. Some antifreeze on the ground but it looks like no suspension damage. Given I've seen trucks totaled for less I would think that's where I'm heading. Hopefully we get this resolved quickly. Oh and Rosie caught it all on video.

Hope you were close enough to where you were going that you didn't need to call A CAB

No air bags? That looks completely repairable.

Did the cop write you a ticket? Hope you have video!

Oy! I hope you're okay...At least it was the front of the Rivian and not a full T-Bone. Your post caught my eye because our R1S is named Rosie too...After the Jetson's maid!

Play on the Riveter for mine. LOL

Can't figure out how to get the video small enough to upload.

No ticket he jumped out and said it was his fault but I'm sure there will be a fight once the investigation wraps.

I'd start shopping for my next Rivian. Glad you weren't damaged too.

Totally his fault. Even with siren and lights on, they are suppose to slow down at intersections.

I'm looking question now is do I find another LE Quad or look for a Gen 2 Tri. Kind of partial to the quality of the Gen 1.

Sorry man, that sucks. If you don't have the coverage, I suggest 'New Car Replacement'... for next time. Best $28/year I ever spent in my life when my 2024 R1T was rear ended by a Silverado. Never had that coverage in my life until I got my Rivian. A quick $100K check from the insurance and now driving a 2025 R1T. Hope it works out whatever way is best for you.

You got a bargain...With Allstate I paid $96 for the year for the new car replacement, and it was only good for the first two years (which makes sense - tough to argue that it's a new car when it's more than 2 years old). Reminds me...I need to make sure that comes off my premium next renewal!

Peformance-wise, Tri is a close match to gen 1 QM... a little bit faster, a little bit more refined and with a much higher autonomy development ceiling. End-of-the-road development on gen 1... TBH, we're probably getting closer to it with each passing day. Once Google Assistant (and text messaging) rolls out, I don't think there'd be much left for them to do on gen 1.

If you don't mind slower acceleration, gen 2 DMP is probably the best goldilocks option with more future-proofing tech. 665 hp is still no slouch. And as one member (can't remember his handle) and former automotive engineer proved, DM is actually better than the Bosch QM in some off-road situations. Used gen 1 does cost less to buy (and insure) though.

There's a caveat though. Rivian/Nationwide's New Car Replacement Plus is for cars 3 years old or less. I switched my insurance recently because I'm coming up on that 3 year mark and it just doesn't make sense to continue to stay with Nationwide and pay twice as much. When I called to cancel, they didn't even fight me. They know they are high and uncompetitive.

FYI, Nationwide covers for first 3 years. If you can get it. Not available in all locations, apparently.

yeah the autonomy isn't a big selling point to me, I love to drive and my Gen 1 has nearly driven me into jerssey barriers on the highway more than once. I do worry about the lack of updates support for the Gen 1 though.

I'm also a speed junky, I tune everything I own so Quad or Tri it would have to be. I'd go Gen 2 quad without question if I wanted to pay that much for it.
