My hearing is AM news station quality, I’m sure whatever is in the R2 will sound fine to me…😁

How long can we expect the launch edition to stick around? Any insight based on the R1 launch editions?

Estimates were in the region of 10,000 sold but no definite numbers.

No actual numbers for R1 LE were published. And it's a business decision/logic that may not be the same for different models. No one knows what they've decided for R2 LE until Rivian actually say it. Good one to ask if they ever hold a AMA again.

Google search will return results on specifics for gen 1 R1 Meridian, gen 1 in-house Elevation and gen 2 Premium and standard audio systems.
I have the Meridian "premium" sound system in my EV6. It's one of the worst "premium" sound systems I've ever heard. Our Harmon Kardon system in our 2019 Subaru Forester sounds so much better, and honestly rivals my old Acura TSX Sportwagon. I use plugged-in Android Auto and/or a USB stick. Sounds the same. It sounds overprocessed, even when you supposedly turn off all the processing.

Its 3 more speakers than my Acura TSX had way back when and that was a good system. 🤷‍♂️

I still remember when adding two 6x9's to the rear deck was an upgrade from the single dash speaker.

Right and the Meridian system in the Jaguar F-type was also not praised. Lots of people equate branding with quality. And some R1 owners hate it when I told them [in the car biz] it's more or less a licensing agreement and marketing scheme than actual quality of the hardware and audio processing. The placebo effect is definitely a factor. I would know, I work in advertising. Sense of worth has much to do with impression than actual substance.

What is the cargo space (and frunk volume) in the R2? I didn't see that posted.
Don't know about frunk, but the rear cargo space is 28.7 cubic feet with rear seats in use, or 79.4 cubic feet with the rear seats flat - this is via the Ars article referenced earlier in the thread. By comparison, a CR-V has 39.3 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, and 76.5 with the rear seats down. Grand Cherokee has 37.7cu/ft with seats up, 70.8 with seats down. A base model Forester has 29.6cu/ft with the rear seats up, 74.4cu/ft with them down.

So it's great with the seats down, but it's a pretty small area with the rear seats up.

That's because of all the legroom in the 2nd row.

I really didn't know the name "Meridian" until I got in an EV6. I just knew the stereo was awful, and everyone complains about it. Kia even wired the subwoofer out of phase to avoid overwhelming the bass in the back or something, which is just bizarre. Most of us have switched the wiring to put it back in phase. I just turn down the bass, but there is just the standard treble/mid/bass controls, and something is really wrong because it needs more. The back doors literally sound like phone speakers. It's so odd. This is a $60K auto, supposedly, and the sound system is absolute garbage.

Context: I studied audio engineering for two years and my reference headphones are Sennheiser HD6XXs, so I do prefer a more neutral sound.

This tells me R2 has better 2nd-row passenger space/leg room than the CR-V.

Right, I get it, but I've owned those three comparison models - Forester, Grand Cherokee, CR-V, and no one ever complained about the legroom in the back.
