Both the R2 Launch and Premium have an "optional" tow package. I do not know if they both are rated for the same capacity. We don't know the cost for this option. Find out in about 100 days.

Launch will have tow package included. The performance (which launch edition is) won’t, but it’s an option you can add:Both the R2 Launch and Premium have an "optional" tow package. Same 4,400 lb capacity. It's right there at rivian.com/r2 in the compare pop-up. Premium and Launch have the same dual motor drivetrain, hence same towing capacity. Launch/Performance just include more unlocked max power, drive modes and options as standard equipment. Both the R2 Launch and Premium have an "optional" tow package. It's a fun conundrum. FWIW, I find it helps to project 2-3 years into the future. I would guess by then, the thrill of owning the LE would have long faded, but the regret of having a new-ish vehicle that lacks the capabilities Lidar unlocks would sting. By then, Lidar might be more common among new vehicles, but your's wouldn't have it..Wife and I are both on the fence. Don't know if we should do the LE or wait for LiDAR.
And both (or all?) of the standard trims list a tow rating of 3,500lbs, matching all of the Model Y trims.Same 4,400 lb capacity. It's right there at rivian.com/r2 in the compare pop-up. But they don't list the tow package as an option. Maybe just an oversight...
Everyone does thatRivian has been known to use different EPA tests(5-cycle vs 2-cycle), to get their desired results on various trims.
Yeah, No EPA test produces "range when driving at constant 70 MPH". No vehicle will ever get "all highway range" as high as the manufacturer claims. (Unless the manufacturer is purposefully lowering their range estimate to get better than advertised.)I still have doubts about the 3.75 m/kwh. Real world tests will be interesting.
