So you might say that there is a dark cloud over your head....I do wish the Coastal Cloud interior came with an option for a black headliner.

Going by the amount of confusion about things on this forum. They left a lot of questions unanswered.Just wanted to mention that Rivian did an Outstanding job on their website reveal for the R2. Highly interactive, Rivian assist, comparisons, photos and videos leave little to the imagination. A virtual tour that covers virtually everything. Now all I need to do is test drive. Awesome.
AWESOME Post.. Gret information. I am on the wait list. I use to own a FISKER OCEAN EV. What are your thoughts about the Standard RWD Long Rang is it ok or would you suggest getting the AWD?https://rivian.com/r2

VIDEOS
It really depends on lighting for them. If you watch the SXSW videos, the Borealis can look extremely dark or very bright depending on the lighting. Same with a lot of their line up actually. I have to say I don't recall other cars having such a drastic change between in the shade and sunlight like these colors, but then again, I don't stare at cars all day unless its a rivian lol. Those little dots on the site are so weird to me - in all the photos I've seen, Catalina Cove doesn't seem to be quite as dark, while Borealis is a little brighter. And my Forest Green R1T is also a little darker, but it has so much depth.
Online samples for car colors never seems to line up, with any auto manufacturer...
First, good to see you hear. I remember you from the Fisker forum. We made it through that debacle. Interesting to see that Rivian borrowed a few things from the Ocean like the drop down rear glass, a single button that drops all windows down at once (almost similar to "california mode" but without the opening of the glass roof) and so many of the R2 easter eggs are almost the same as the Ocean. Rivian was even toying around with the concept of doggie windows...though that didn't make it into the final R2 version.AWESOME Post.. Gret information. I am on the wait list. Tow package might be a factor for some too.So I've been wavering on LE since announcement and keep going back and forth between LE and waiting for Gen3. Looking at it from cost, if I go LE, and then have to pay for 20" AT wheels (lets call that $2k) and LE green paint (lets say $1,000 even though that's low) we're looking at a pre-tax price of $61.2k, probably higher.
If I wait for Premium (not performance), paying for the autonomy+ and paint brings it to $58k pre tax and that's for much more powerful hardware, even though I may not use it. The non-semi-active suspension is easier on repairs and any lifts needed for off roading, and lets them work out the bugs.
Besides the semi-active suspension the real only difference I'm seeing between these two options otherwise is the pure software unlocking of performance mode. That's a $5,000 option after the fact, but is that alone worth $5k? I don't think so.
Yeah. I almost included that but as much as I like having the ability I haven’t used it once, so not sure how much I’d be willing to pay for it.Tow package might be a factor for some too.
I'm having a similar wrestling match in my head. Her's what I have decided - at this point anyway. I'm going with the LE assuming I can get one.So I've been wavering on LE since announcement and keep going back and forth between LE and waiting for Gen3. “Gen 3”’is only the third version of ADAS otherwise everything else is the same from a June 2026 to a June 2027 build. So I've been wavering on LE since announcement and keep going back and forth between LE and waiting for Gen3. The big thing for me right now is the 20s have far more tire options than the 21s. Rivian went with a stupid proprietary tire size again for the 21s, which is stupid to me on a mass market car.I'm having a similar wrestling match in my head. Her's what I have decided - at this point anyway. I'm going with the LE assuming I can get one.
I WANT the performance mode, but I'm not sure I would pay extra for it.
I would prefer the 20" wheels/tires, but will pass on paying extra (see how it goes).
I DO want the Launch Green. Happy to pay for that.
I'd LIKE to have the light interior, but its sounds like that will not be an option for a while.
I like having the tow package, but don't really need it.
Gen3 doesn't buy me anything that I feel is important at this point, so I don't want to wait.
That said, I will probably lease for 24 or 36 months, so I can upgrade after that If I want.
This will always be a problem no matter when or which model you buy. There will always be another generation, another advancement, another something, that will leave people jealous or wanting to upgrade to the latest model. The big thing for me right now is the 20s have far more tire options than the 21s. I agree about not needing the gen3, but I also like the idea of future proofing. Case and point pool how mad some Gen1 owners are about the loss of future abilities because of Gen2.
The current version of ADAS for R2 will have much more headroom than version 1 ADAS did for R1 so no real impact until 2028/2029 at the earliest. The big thing for me right now is the 20s have far more tire options than the 21s. Oh you're not wrong, but the question is it worth waiting ~6 months to have more time until I can justify "needing" an upgrade, and with the disruption in tech and EVs lately that's a really hard question to answer. This will always be a problem no matter when or which model you buy. There will always be another generation, another advancement, another something, that will leave people jealous or wanting to upgrade to the latest model.
100% valid, and that's part of my internal debate, but realistically deliveries are gonna fall to September-ish for LE and that means 2028 is barely a year away, too.The current version of ADAS for R2 will have much more headroom than version 1 ADAS did for R1 so no real impact until 2028/2029 at the earliest.
