NY - Long Island - Is this totaled or Not?

Driving down the local street and driver backs out of her driveway without looking and hits me. Is it totaled? and any one has recommendation for a proper body shop at the east end of Long Island NY that know how to deal with Rivians?

Any thoughts on how to approach this with insurance, body shop, etc, as the R1S is cared for meticulously and did not have a scratch on it.

I have seen a couple auctions with totaled R1Ss with similar damage, because that panel is not replaceable. If it were mine, I’d see if a paintless dent repair shop could fix it, maybe respray afterwards also, understanding that it won’t look perfect.
insurance will expect it to come out perfect, which might not be possible, so might be a total.

According to Rivian, the "proper" repair is to replace that whole body side panel from the rear end of the vehicle right up to windshield. Of course that's why a "simple" seemingly minor repair like this one can end up totaling your vehicle.

I'd ask your Porsche or Rover dealer for the number of their paintless repair guy/shop and let him have a look at it. Some of these guys are magicians...

To me, it looks too mangled for PDR. Not impossible, just very time intensive.

As long as the doors function I would be temped to take a cash settlement and just buff it clean.

Then possibly see a paintless dent guy and see what can be improved.

Doubtful. Depends upon the year and miles on the vehicle though.

FWIW, I had two major accidents in my Gen 1 quad 2023 R1S one of which I was rear-ended and cost $30k to repair (~40k miles) and the other one was a direct hit on the charge port, fender, and wheel which cost $33.5k to repair (~50k miles).

I just found out that the other driver is with the same insurance company/Progressive, feels like there is a conflict of interest!

It’s amazing how much it cost to fix this car. I rear ended someone and this was the damage. Of course there are some other damages after taking the car apart. But this was a $18.8K fix.
It did have a cracked light, dented hood, misaligned hood, other cracks by the tow hook.
I brought it to Flower Hill in Roslyn but they have an office in Huntington if that works for you.

IMHO, you have the right of way as you are driving down the street. They should have yielded as they were entering the street. But not an expert on NY traffic laws.

I am getting back from the closet Rivian certified body shop and the owner tells me the cost estimate to replace, paint and refinish the rear quarter panel/wheel plastic trim is ~$8K (verbal), which is a wildly lower figure than what I had prepared myself for. can you help rationalize this number? sounds too good to be true!
