In the Seattle Times today.... --> "The fate of a $100 million proposal by Gov. Jay Inslee to dramatically expand incentives for Washington residents to purchase electric vehicles remains uncertain as legislators scrutinize it.

House and Senate legislators are deciding if, and in what form, to include the measure in their operating budgets for the fiscal year that begins July 1.

The state payments up to $7,500 would be coupled with federal tax credits in place of up to $7,500 for some vehicles. And they come amid debate in Washington state and elsewhere about how to structure such incentives to best maximize the amount of carbon emission reductions they achieve."

I didn't see mention of any income stipulations or strings attached to the incentive. If this were enacted, maybe a delivery delay from March-April to July isn't such a bad thing?!

Yup, I just read the article too. Trucks and SUV's need to be less than $80,000 (There goes my Rivian Blue color and Forest Edge interior and 20" wheels) but with no income qualification on the buyer. I have a late 2023 ship date so maybe something will come of that by then.

$80k MSRP. Options won't increase that. Even the F150 Lightning Lariat+ will quality, MSRP is $67k before options.

If it stays in the supplemental budget request, it starts 01 July 2022 (beginning of FY2023 in WA State). I guess there's a bright side to the upcoming Rivian delay ??‍♂

the budget also isn't explicit about whether the rebate would apply to new vehicles not sold by dealers in the State (call me paranoid with this one).

It's also at $100,000,000 per year. So it's entirely possible that vehicles sold at the end of the fiscal year may not have funding.

agreed. I've definitely become a bit less interested in trying to get a launch edition if it could cost me an additional $7,500.

There is a 250/500k cap for individuals and households.

When I read the budget, that wasn't clear to me. It just says MSRP. My "build" for ford has everything I added to it, as well as dealer doc fees as part of the "MSRP" per Ford. I left off the max tow package for the moment specifically because of that. So it would be up to the department issuing the rebate to interpret. I let my dealer know as a way to see if they would try to adjust things (or have them give feedback to the legislature), it might be worth pointing it out to yours as well.

Good points! I never considered the fact Rivian sales are outside of the state. I guess I'll accept an F150 delay instead and consider it an offset for the $5k D*ckhead fee.

$100 million is only for FY23, supplementing the current biennium and gets us 13,333 new vehicles, more if mixing $5k used vehicle sales. I agree, it'll go fast.

fyi, Ford changed the max tow pack so that optioning the Lariat ER+ with max tow results in MSRP<$80k including delivery fees.
