Total Miles: about 70 miles from Las Vegas and another 20-30 miles to loop around Duration: 4 hrs Technical Rating: Easy (1) Air down: No GMRS Radio: Highly recommended to stay in touch during the entire event. There won't be any cellular service. Spare Tire: Preferred. It's a good practice to have a compact or full spare, just in case. Pinstriping: No Battery: must be 100% when you leave home Recovery kit: No Alcohol, drugs and bad attitude: leave them at home
Valley of Fire State Park is a public recreation area and nature preservation area covering nearly 46,000 acres located 16 miles south of Overton, NV. The state park derives its name from red sandstone formations, the Aztec Sandstone, which formed form shifting sand dunes 150 million years ago. These features, which are the centerpiece of the park's attractions, often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun's rays. It's Nevada's oldest state park, as commemorated with Nevada Historical Marker #150.
