Here's a picture of the R2 prototype in the lobby at the factory in Normal. I'm pretty sure this is Esker Silver. It's a shade darker than LA Silver. I really liked it in person.
You can enter the lobby at the main factory entrance. The parking lot is typically full, so you may have a hard time finding a parking spot.
I'm not sure how they are currently handling new purchase delivery, but for service you pull up at the front and go to the front desk and they have...
I live about an hour away from Normal. I picked up my 2022 R1T at the factory, but only had a quick look at the end of the assembly line. They said they couldn't give a complete tour. More recently I went there to drop off my truck for service, but no tours were available. You can peak through...

I'm looking forward to the R3, but it's going to be a long wait. They still need to build the factory.
It depends on how long the war in Iran goes on. 20% of the global oil supply has to go through the Straight of Hormuz. The bigger impact on supply is for Asia and Australia. Global prices still impact us here in the US. I'm glad I invested in Solar PV on my home !
I was happy to get a look at it in person even if it's just a prototype. I wanted to get a better idea of the proportions. I'm looking forward to getting the all the specifications on March 12.
I was at the factory in Normal a couple of weeks ago to drop off my R1T for service. Got to see the R2 on display in the lobby. Unfortunately it's roped off, so I couldn't sit in it. It was great to see one close up. They had a stator from the electric motor on display as well. The color looked...
That's what I thought too ! I went back and read the fine print under the contest rules and you could enter the contest up until midnight February 13th. Considering the long weekend with a holiday on Monday, I'm hoping they announce the winners today. Whoever wins needs to make travel plans...
I didn't notice any problems with Driver Assist prior to taking it in. I just heard there were problems with some early VIN's and they just decided to replace the module on all of the affected vehicles.
I had it done at the Normal, IL service center yesterday. They also replaced the secondary driver assist module. They told me 1-2 hours but it was more like 6 hours. It didn't bother me, since I they set me up with an Enterprise rental car to use. It was nice to check out the R2 in the lobby...
Yes, vampire drain is a real concern when talking about cost of energy ! The display in the truck doesn't take this into account. There is no way to easily measure it, unless you have a separate meter. I hope Rivian can fix it with software updates.
I just brought home a new electric zero turn mower, DR Power ZT5E. Another step in getting off the fossil fuel habit. It's lot less noise while mowing too.
