R2 Displayed at the factory lobby in Normal

I was at the factory in Normal a couple of weeks ago to drop off my R1T for service. Got to see the R2 on display in the lobby. Unfortunately it's roped off, so I couldn't sit in it. It was great to see one close up. They had a stator from the electric motor on display as well. The color looked darker than LA Silver. I think it is just one of the prototypes, not a production model.

If it's roped off it's probably the same hand-built concept car dating back to original concept reveal event (and more recently shown at LA Auto Show last November) and not an actual production sample. The concept, like most concept cars, does not have fully functional UI and can only move under its own power at low speeds.

I do like that shade of silver better than the LA silver currently offered, hope it makes it to production…along with a few new, fun colors.

It's definitely not one of the production or validation builds as the headrests are different and more like the prototype. It may indeed be the one that was touring until recently, now that they don't really need it for touring anymore.

I was happy to get a look at it in person even if it's just a prototype. I wanted to get a better idea of the proportions. I'm looking forward to getting the all the specifications on March 12.

Most likely same car. The concept car was damaged in transit to one of their scheduled tour events. Resurfaced months later wrapped or painted in the present slate silver (and relocated charging port) with the door sills and jambs still in white. By the time it was shown at NYC Spaces, sills and jambs were also in slate sliver.

Overall dimensions are nearly identical to current generation BMW X3 (ICE), 2024-.
