Nice write up and solution OP!
regarding the chatter about the AC inverter, thatās very true, itās extremely power hungry. I made a video about it here.

Same boat as you, and same date. Iāll update here is anything changes.
ā22, was v1 now v1.5. Not stuck but pops like crazy when operating and service appointment looks to be a v2 replacement.
Iāve got what you are looking for. Check this tent out. You can grab it for 2k, has more features than all the others and itās larger than iKamper mini as well.
Rooftop tents have their strengths. But why ikamper? Pretty expensive for what you actually get.. I snagged this off Amazon for less than half the price.
I was on the hunt for a long while. Adapters are very hard to find and to the point others have made you could over inflate the mattress accidentally.
I got the exped mega pump and am very happy with it, especially for the deflate ability to get the mattress as small as possible when packing up...
The biggest killer is if you leave the inverter on the entire time to run something like a fridge. I explain and test in this video. Wild how much idle consumption is with the inverter running and truck awake!
I picked up the Naturnest Sirius 2 tent. It uses the new style hinge mechanism to give you more space and has built in power and lighting. Its full blackout, comes with shoe bags and it very high quality. I'm a happy camper (pun intended.)
I there together a review of it last time out with my...
I shared in another thread as well, but I was considering the iKamper and a few other options when I was researching the best tent/value. I think I have struck gold. I've used it about 10 times now, just posted a video reviewing it.
I grabbed it on Amazon, could not be happier. Give it a watch...

Tires are rarely all the exact size as the specs say. BFG KO2s have been almost notorious for 'running small' so thats what I was expecting to see with the KO3s. Not the case!
Decided to try and fit 295/65/20 on my OEM wheels. Yeah.. that didn't work.
Made a video in case it can help convince anyone else to avoid the attempt.
Im able to fit the 285/65/20 BFG KO3 spare in the compartment, but I had to drop it to about 5PSI.
absolutely. I use a gazelle ground tent as well but camping with young kids these rooftop tents make things a bit easier. Pros and cons to each of course.
