It does if you are a citizen of the United States. Of course, they are targeting more than just us, so we are not their only enemy.
You're welcome to believe that, but it’s still not mandatory for everyone else. That’s the whole point of living in a free country like the USA. We have the freedom to make our own decisions.

My point is you are their enemy even if you don't know you are.

We can agree to disagree, and I respect your right to have your own opinion, of course.

you do know most healthcare equipment and devices all come from China right? From Artificial joints to monitoring devices to pacemakers to devices that integrate with facilities' EMR systems. My company is under cyber threat every day because we hold a lot of patient data. My point is it there are a lot easier ways for the Chinese to steal data, and more critical data, than through cars. If that is what you believe they are doing

You better not go to the hospital. your sworn enemy is watching

I have control over which car I buy. I don't have control over what equipment my doctor uses.

Instead of throwing up my hands and accepting the cyber spying, I prefer more scrutiny by people we trust with our lives. Don't buy medical equipment from China if there are alternatives available. If no alternative, someone needs to create alternatives. It is crucially important for our safety and security.

Cyber spying is real, as you pointed out. Giving up is not the answer.

Hey man, not to get into this topic much further, but there is a lot of spying happening here as well.

I do agree with you in that more should be done to protect the consumers from the borderline harassment level of spying done to its citizens, but one can't pretend China is the only one doing this. One most not look much further than Silicon Valley for that.

And no, as much as I love Rivian, I do not think they are exempt from this. As long as consumer data can be sold, everyone is going to do it.

If Nio sold cars here, I’d be all over the ET5T like Kash Patel's name on a bottle of cheap bourbon. I'd take an EV wagon over an EV SUV every day and twice on Sunday if they offered them here.

perhaps you've heard of a tesla model S it is also a liftback so basically a station wagon - there are even older versions with a 3rd row seat

$5K difference between my fully spec'd out R2 LE and my iX3. I just spoke to my partner, we are going iX3
Now that I've seen the configurator, it reinforced my decision to do the same with iX3, even beyond the battery issues discussed elsewhere. I could not combine a R2 model, wheel size, and exterior color I wanted with anything but a black or white interior. It's just not for me. Best wishes to all others!

Surely you know the difference between a liftback/hatchback and a station wagon ;)

This is not even close to the same shape. The Model S is shaped more like a sedan in profile.

Rivian R1T R1S Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out 2021-tesla-model-s_100777926

Yes, everyone buying CCP infected vehicles are suckers. And my phone could have CCP spyware, but it is less likely because it is not a CCP produced device. If they did it, it is at the circuit level and escaped Samsung's QA process, which is possible of course. They put chips on circuit boards to steal data.
'
I will never drive a CCP infected vehicle and support our sworn enemy. Never. Rivian is about as safe as you can get. Home grown, USA, baby.
I’d be far more worried about what US companies are doing with your data than any Chinese company. GM already got fined for that, and I’m sure they’re still doing some of it since US data protection rules are so weak.

Insurance companies, health care companies, advertisers, taxing entities… China is way back at the end of the line!

Why? The CCP is using the data for military purposes. Businesses in the US are using it for marketing purposes. They are not equivalent.
