I had my 2023 R1S Gen1 60K miles service done on March 20, 2026. I paid the $230 for a comprehensive inspection.

Front and rear dampers replaced free.

Steering wheel replaced due to peeling free.

Rear door seals replaced free.

Inspection found that brake fluid did not need changing.

Currently at ~63K miles and confident that I'm solid for another 3 years.
Just picked my 2023 R1S up.
Went in because front drivers side would drop after several days of sitting.
Boy they did a lot of replacing! Sure glad I took it in.
They:
Removed and replaced front and rear dampers.
Removed and replaced hydraulic suspension pump.
Removed and replaced hydraulic suspension manifold.
Removed and replaced the seal, output, front drive unit RH.
Removed and replaced LH and RH front hydraulic suspension jounce lines.
Removed and replaced both front half shafts.

Out of curiosity did you buy an extended warrantee? After seeing how much some of these repairs cost I'm considering it.
I am hopeful that Rivian extended warranty is offered when I get my R2 so that I can add the R1S as well, else I will try Xcare.

I think Rivian warranty was $10k for 5 years, it's offered in select states. That's about twice the XCare price. My info is old, so things may have changed.

Ok what I'm seeing is... (used a bit of AI to consolidate some feedback from other forums as well)

1. Suspension & Drivetrain
The most common area for major parts replacements. Many owners report a "looseness" or clunking over rough pavement, or a corner sagging after sitting for a few days.

  • Dampers/Shocks: Widespread replacements of both front and rear dampers due to leaks, clicking, or upgraded Gen 1 hardware revisions.
  • Hydraulic Lines & Components: Frequent replacement of hydraulic suspension jounce lines, suspension pumps, and manifolds due to slow leaks.
  • Half Shafts / Driveshafts: Replaced by multiple users to address low-speed clicking or acceleration vibration.
  • Seals: Look for leaks on the front drive unit output seals.
2. Interior & Trim
  • Door & Hatch Seals: Check the rubber seals (especially the rear door seals) for tearing, loose fitment, or degradation.
  • Rear Touch Screen: Prone to glitches or total failure, requiring a replacement unit.
3. Electrical & Miscellaneous
  • 12V Batteries: Known to degrade over time; worth having tested before the warranty drops.
  • Horn Failure: A few owners noted their horns needed replacement.
  • Infotainment / Audio: Check all speakers and internal/external LED lighting arrays to ensure no modules have failed.
