Based on 300-500 units a day and about 1K invites were sent out on the 16th. That would put production completion on Monday-Wednesday. This is assuming none of the ordered had already been filled last week.
But where are you getting those numbers? Not sure there has been any official production numbers from Rivian and certainly no confirmation of how many invitations were sent out on the 16th or since launch for that matter.

300-500 a week is reasonable, certainly not per day or they would be at 1200-2000 a month already and that is not the case as we are at VIN 2000 after eight weeks.

The configurator has a new behavior. Before I could unfavorite a configuration and change the color, but I found the Esker Silver favorite configuration in my computer's browser that Rivian emailed me with the "You have good taste" email. I thought I had changed my favorite to Forest Green, but I guess it didn't stick.

What's different is I clicked on the heart to unfavorite my choice they know about, and a dialog popped up saying something along the lines of, "Stay with this configuration, or lose it forever." So I guess I'm at least locked in to getting a Launch Edition. I suspect I'll have another chance to switch to Forest Green, but a YouTube video I just saw showed the user with an invite changing the color, and that lead to a button that said, something like "Keep my choice," and a button saying, "Get on the list." Making me think if I change my choice, I may hurt my chances of getting a Launch Edition.

So I'm sticking with Esker Silver for now, and see if I can change the color when the time arrives for me. Shoot, that's not a problem. I'll get a spare tire instead and save $500 if I can't go green.

If you haven't ordered yet, the favorite is meaningless. It's just adding a pre-saved config that you can presumably recall when you do order (I didn't try though, as it was faster to just select the color and wheels directly). Rivian also may be using the favorited configs to inform their production capacity and to gauge popularity.

But you are not "locked in" until you actually confirm the order and pay the extra $400 deposit. And even then, you may be able to contact Rivian if you need to change something.

The warning that I would lose that configuration forever seems to imply that I may be on the tail end of the Launch Editions (whenever that is). Why else would they warn me? A few days back they sent me an email to ask me to confirm my delivery address and my configuration. (I had selected that I wanted a Launch Edition before.) I suspect you're right about them gauging what they need to be prepared for. But there would be no reason to warm me off changing my selection or losing it forever.

It’s just a warning that you are erasing a favorite. All you have to do is create it again and re-“heart” it.

I did it before and there was no warning. This was definitely a change. What it means I'm not sure, but if indeed it isn't a problem, then I can change the color when I do get my opportunity. But with them setting people's order between now and Tuesday, I'm not taking any chances.

I think it's just a "this cannot be undone" warning, to say they can't recover an unfavorited config for you. But it's not tied to the order officially. If your favorite config happens to be one they are making or expect to make in the coming days/weeks, it could theoretically boost your position in the invite queue, but I highly doubt it has any impact beyond that.

Gotcha, but it doesn’t mean anything. You don’t have an order and they aren’t locking anything based on favorites. Creating a “favorite” is not a part of the ordering process. Most new vehicle “build” sites let’s you save configs. It’s just a toy for quick reference. Heck, there are so few options it’s actually kinda pointless. Even if I do have three saved myself. 🤣

I know I might be over thinkiing it, but there was a change in the website's behavior, just as they are finalizing everybody's position in the queue. There must be some reason for this change in the website's behavior. And so I'm going to cling to this faint hope until reality settles down on me some time between now and Tuesday. If it's a nothing burger, nothing lost.

Placed my order today. Esker Silver with Black Sand All Terrain. The webpage said 8 to 12 week delivery window. If I changed to an extra cost color, the window would have been 4 to 8 weeks. However, maybe its better for them to get a little more experience building them.

Made my initial reservation on March 27, 2024 and received the invitation to order on June 16, 2026.

I had a third test drive today at the Tempe Arizona service center. The guy behind the desk said they mostly had employee cars for delivery.
