I actually agreed to arbitration when I signed the form, it was a conscience decision on my part.
I cannot imagine why one would would foreclose an avenue of options ahead of time. You can always arbitrate later. I leave my choice until the facts present themselves.

I opted out of arbitration agreement. Did enough people do that? I don't want to join it just to give 50 million for lawyers and $50 for me. In the end, that money is mostly coming from future customers.

Just an avenue I would never have gone down.

I did my research, I knew what I was getting, what it had and what it did not have. I made my decision and will live with it, no one forced me to complete that transaction. The only thing I would ever even use arbitration for would be a warrenty dispute.

You just never know what could happen. What if there was a legitimate issue. It’s of no cost to keep the option open. I dunno, it’s the pragmatist in me.

Many times lawsuits are to address issues arising from one party thinking they weren’t forced or mislead into a transaction, only to later find out that it wasn’t the case. Remember VW dieselgate? Yeah, I was caught up in that. Who could have foreseen that lol.

For free, I keep my options open. But, to each their own.

Having been burnt by clear over promises of Tesla 2018 FSD and realizing little to no actual value of FSD in terms of functionality or resell, I get it. It was a big waste of money I did feel like I should be compensated for.

That said, I feel like I got what I paid for in our Gen 1 R1T.

I personally think Rivian delivered as promised and I don't read as much into what "assistance" means in terms of autonomy.

My Gen 1 does not automatically do lane changes on its own, but it certainly assists me in lane changes. There are more roads that work now than when I first picked it up. Are they a different "type" ... I dunno, will leave that to the lawyers, but I never had the impression of local roads, etc.

I don't see how Tesla could get away with their bold claims yet Rivian be found guilty because some people thought assistance means autonomous, or thought Rivian was claiming the same functionality of Tesla (they weren't).

In my opinion, Rivian promised less and delivered on what they promised.

Tesla sold FSD as a product that drives in al most all circumstances with someone in the driver's seat. FSD v14 lite does this

it is a full parking spot to parking spot functionality. It also has summon and soon banish

Rivian promised hands free driving which they are unable to deliver

FSD promised way back in 2017, coming "next year", every year. It's 2026, FSD lite for HW3 was just released last month, the car is out of warranty, sold, and still not FSD. Lite is supervised level 2 ... so you proved my point well.

Summons, parking assist, were all in my experience, gimmicks. 100% failure out of my driveway, much less a parking lot or used in the real world.

When we ordered our R1S (2021), it had 12V ports in the frunk and in the front of the cab AND dual horns...When we took delivery in August '23 we got a single pathetic horn and the only 12V port was in the back. Where is the line when they didn't deliver what I ordered? I get that it was my choice to take delivery knowing that the 12V ports weren't there - I didn't know about the horn until we needed to use it. I do understand the lawsuit - I believed that much more sophisticated Driver+ features would be coming, including hands-off. I remember that photo clearly.

Watch...us Gen1 owners will be offered lifetime a Autonomy+ subscription as part of the settlement...

Honestly, I was more disappointed in Gen 2's self-driving capabilities than I was in Gen 1's. When Gen 2 was still using Mobileye, it was better than Gen 1, but when they switched to their own stack, it's just as bad, even though it's hands-free. It phantom brakes all the time and gets easily confused.

Let's face it. ALL "drive assist" features on Gen 1 vehicles suck balls. My old 2018 Q7 was way better and with ONE camera and 2 radar sensors. This truck has more cameras and sensors than an F35 Jet, and here we are. Oh well, tick tock, lease is over next summer.

Unless you've been screwed by arbitration previously, it's not really something most think about when purchasing a new vehicle. It's also not something Rivian or any other manufacturer advertise. You need to look for it and some don't make that easy...

Totally agree. I was referring to the forum member who said they made a specific decision to be bound to arbitration and that is why they signed the form.

FWIW - CA, you must be given a separate paper focused solely on the arbitration provision. Not sure about other states.

Tesla never sold an unsupervised product.

The most egregious description of FSD back in 2017-2018 makes mention of someone in the driver's seat.
