R2 Owners - what's the official treadlife/warranty on your tires?

The general marketing and tire sites claim 65,000 miles for the AT's but al of these sites still have the outdated info that they are 3PMS.

There's no stated treadlife on the Pirelli's.

OEM tires don't have treadlife warranties.

As someone who has had Pirelli on both Model Y Performance and Cyberbeast I’ll say about 15k-20k miles tops

On the R1, most people appear to have gotten 20k - 30k on the Pirelli ATs. Some as little as 10k and a few over 40k+. I got 38k. All got noisy after 10k. No warranty.

OEM tires don't have treadlife warranties.

I've had past vehicles whose OEM's that did. The Conti's on my Passat and the Firestones on my Fiat 500 Prima, for example. I wasn't expecting an answer but was worth asking. Considering all the other pros/cons of the 21"/20" debate, a 65K tread life is huge in deciding if accurate.

Yup- I get the warranty side of it. But as the OEM 20's don't fully "match" the same tire listed on the BF Goodrich site (Rivian's aren't 3PMS and... what else is different in the compound, etc?) , I haven't been able to confirm the tread life estimate.

There's contact info, ask. OEM tires are frequently "shaved" versions of the retail tires because they are more efficient.

I've actually called a few weeks ago - was told they had no info as of yet beyond the standard 3PMS tire details. I'd like to guess the 20's will be good for 30K plus, especially as the non-OEM's promise 65k

One thing I learned- I hadn't realized or have forgotten that BFGoodrich is owned by Michelin. Too bad that Defenders weren't offered vs the Pirelli's.

I extensively looked in to this subject on the R1, and it hasn't changed... no tread-wear warranty on OEM tires period. Call the tire manufacturer to confirm if you like. The only warranty is on "manufacturing defects" which covers various issues that can crop up, but zero tread-wear warranty.

That's why when people need to replace tires, I always recommend getting it done at 3rd party shops rather then from Rivian because Rivian only supplies tires with the OEM stamp on them and they carry no tread-wear warranty. The 3rd party shops (and Tire Rack) might offer the OEM stamped tires, but if you purchase them, no tread-wear warranty. Always go for the non-OEM stamped tires because at least you get a real tread-wear warranty with those tires.

"OEM" on replacement tires only means that it's the same tire as when it was sold new. You should be getting the benefit of treadwear warranties when you are buying replacement tires no matter who installs them. You'll have a receipt that shows your replacement tires were installed an a date certain, and you would just submit that to the manufacturer when a claim is made.

If you look on Tire Rack, certain tires have different variations designated for different manufacturers. For example, BMW "OEM" tires have a star on them--but they still have a star if you buy from Tire Rack. They are the same tires you would get if you replaced them at the BMW dealer.

Why would Rivian be the only car manufacturer that would preclude a warranty on replacement tires?

It doesn't matter who installs the tires.. The only thing that matters is what's stamped on the side of the tire.. if it says "Rivian" (which is what is stamped on the side of the OEM tires).. no tread-wear warranty for you!

Tire manufacturers sell two versions of the same exact tire, one has the vehicle manufacturer name stamped in the side (in this case RIV or Rivian), this is the "OEM" version of the tire, the other does not have that stamp on it. Both are exactly the same except for that stamp and one has no tread-wear warranty, the other does regardless of who you purchase them from or who installs them.

Don't waste your breath arguing about it.. just call the tire manufacturer and point blank ask them.. they will 100% confirm my post.

This is a Pirelli thing, not a "Rivian OEM" thing. Pirelli has elected not to offer any treadwear warranty on this Scorpion tire. If you have the 20" BFG all terrain tires, you get a treadwear warranty when you replace them, even tho they are OEM.

Go look on TR's website and check other sizes for the Scorpion MS - they don't offer treadwear for any of them.

But... why would you tell people not to get tires at Rivian service centers if you knew that you get no treadwear warranty no matter where you bought the tires.....?
