R2 Launch Mode demo by Wassym -- 0-60 in 3.45s. Coming to R2 in next OTA update

I've not done launch mode, but I noticed pretty dramatic torque steer to the left in the R2 under acceleration as compared to our R1T quad. So much so that I hesitate even trying launch mode.

I double checked the tire pressures to make sure they are equal (they are)... gonna let them tires wear in for awhile and maybe reduce the pressure to see if that helps.

Any other R2 owners notice the same?

What is the point of this and that whole animated UI? Is it just for racing?

Personally I’d rather see them spending more time on more useful software features like text integration with iOS, adding more apps to Connect+ or knocking items off their Coming Soon checklist:

“The following features are expected soon via a subsequent OTA update”

• Rivian Assistant
• Gear Guard suite
• Vehicle hotspot
• Garage door opener

Seems like a moot point arguing about these delayed features. They will be in the vehicle long before the majority of people have the R2 in their driveway.

Additionally, those that possess R2s made a choice to take delivery prior to having the delayed features.

From Rivian's perspective It was either delayed (software driven) features or delayed vehicle delivery/sales.

By delivering vehicles Rivian was able to start building and delivering. The company knows they can deliver software updates. If they had delayed ramping up the build, they would not have been able to physically build and deliver the numbers finance requires by the end of the year.

Even if they built and parked them somewhere prior to software features being ready, they couldn't deliver that many in a shorter time with current resources. This situation is a very clear demonstration of one of the most important advantages of a software defined vehicle.

I had a MYP before leasing an R1T Dual Performance, and now the R2 Performance, it is every bit on par with the MYP, very fun to drive and crazy power whenever you want it. The thing I probably enjoy most is that the R2 in sport feels great, like the MYP did, the R1T is sport always felt to firm even on the softest setting, and didn't feel nearly as punchy as the R2. Smiles for days.....
