So how do you like the truck?
I like it a lot, really. Build quality is way better than my Tesla’s. Features and materials are better as well, even better than in my Plaid. I have many of the know maladies
Most wifi routers are dual band (or higher) now-a-days. You can probably go into your router settings and enable 2.4GHz. JFYI
I have both bands active as many of my devices connected only work with 2.4G. Rivian claims I need a dedicated 2.4G SSID. Now that’s, Lame.

I use Google WiFi mesh at home. It broadcasts both 2.4 and 5 GHz on the same SSID. I guess that’s why I didn’t have any issues w/ my truck or needed to do anything special.

I’ve been through the Tesla growing pains, which continue today. My Plaid build quality is trash. R1T was better there. Many Tesla UI features are beta, and have been for years. I moved from Tesla (sold MYP) because I wanted to try something new. Will be canceling my Cybertruck order as well. I love the R1T, well most of it.

The owner transfer and requirement that the Rivian have its own dedicated old 2.4G WiFi network is lame. It just is.

This from my guide.

You can make this shite up.

2.4GHz isn't necessarily old per se as WiFi 6 supports it and it can be used with WPA3.

Yours came out much better than mine. I couldn't get the seams to line up properly under each headlight. Yours looks perfect.

it’s not true, though. I have a single ssid with automatic band steering and my R1T connects without issue.

That’s what mine does as well. It’s a LINKSYS Velop WiFi 6 mesh network that manages (very well) nearly 100 devices on multiple bands. The Rivian refuses to connect to it. It is as it appears to be.

I have a dedicated 2.4, 5, and bandsteered setup. MyR1T connects just fine to my dedicated 5 network. Never even bothered with my bandsteered. The EVSE, after reading about some people having issues, is to my dedicated 2.4
No issues

Re the ownership transfer - I sent a email to Rivian “privacy” and also called service and the guide. Things finally look to be moving.

“Yes has called me. That's great she was able to assist with the wifi. I've heard from her and the privacy team. They have looped in the head of our department as well.
They are on it!”

Update on this. Guide was wrong. Called service and they remotely reset/rebooted the truck. Connected the first time after that.

Update on mine: I am now the owner of the truck on Rivians side and am fully setup.

My wait was about 6 days in total, including weekend. Not bad.

So far @jebinc, the truck blows away my Plaid in terms of issues experienced and fit and finish. Really impressive for a company that has been delivering vehicles for less than 1 year.
