Since we are going with anecdotes here, I'll chime in.
Texas - seeing Rivians more and more frequently. I used to see one maybe every 2-3 weeks. I see multiple almost every day. There's a notable uptick for sure.
I would say I see Rivians about the same amount as I do EV6s and Ioniq 5s...
Nothing specific was given. They mentioned a number of things they are working on, some are cost related but they also mentioned updating technology. That was about it.
Some changes sound early next year, but other comments alluded to "towards the end of the year" but I assume they want that...
RJ's answer on backlog... a bit of a deflection.
They need the single motor standard pack config out in 2024 to help get MSRP down so it is accessible to more buyers is what I heard. No surprise given interest rates and the market right now.
No price cuts coming it sounds like, maybe slight...
I would like to hear some better guidance on max pack, dual motor configs, and the Enduro program as a whole. These are the "short term" factors that are going to help sustain and/or propel Rivian in the near-term (through this year at least).
Is everything on still on track? Ramp going well? etc.
This isn't going to be a straight and narrow path. I don't know anything about running a car company but I can only assume based on the most recent successful example (Tesla) that in the best case there are going to be some very rocky roads over the next 12-18 months.
The biggest chance for...
Thanks for this, Dave. I had not seen the Road ranger location previously. Will need to give it a shot. I'm not a fan of stopping at that EA station located in the Walmart parking lot. Most of the chargers are having issues usually and the area can be seedy.
I don't know, but I see Rivians, Teslas and lots of other EVs everywhere in Central Texas. Dallas and Fort Worth TX (city limits) combine for zero CCS chargers capable of 150kW+. Austin has 0 (one EA station in a suburb). San Antonio has 1.
It's ridiculous.
There are RAN stations planned for...
What it comes down to is this: does Rivian get billions in funding if Tesla goes out of business in 2015 or 2016? The answer is no.
In Silicon Valley, the process is that an entrepreneur convinces a VC to fund a very high risk project. If it works out, that initial company makes a ton of money...
Munro should be able to help Rivian reduce unnecessary wields and things of that nature, which should save cost and improve efficiency.
I truly hope these conversations aren't "do you really need USS, radar, windshield wiper sensors, auto high beam sensors, lumbar support, to provide charging...
I think Tesla has created great products and deserves almost all of the credit for really pushing EV adoption forward. We wouldn't have Rivian without Tesla. They also have the best charging network.
However - I do hope that Tesla focuses on three core areas moving forward: quality control...
I love that EA did this as a way to show people "we hear you, we are working on it."
I was working on a video for my YouTube channel one time and ran in to a whole bunch of EA marketing people, who were there to block off our only local chargers for VWs CEO who was coming to show the ID Buzz in...
I know Rivian is in cost cutting mode to stay afloat. However, the camera system might be the first place where they decide to eat the extra $30-50 per vehicle to get a solid set of cameras on there.
My only question is, in order to process the higher resolution (data) would they need to...
