Probably pulled engineers to work on something more critical. Disappointing, I get it. I'm not a camp kitchen customer but the shuttle I was planning on for my second order.
The max pack probably has much better margins. I think Rivian would love to push customers into buying one.
I don't think they spent a lot of time or additional investment in the things listed, sadly. The goal was to significantly increase price while reducing cost as much as possible.

My guess is that Rivian will have to agree to reduce the total number of vans Amazon must order in exchange for Rivian to get other buyers. I assume Rivian has a lot of interest or they wouldn't risk this relationship. If Amazon were to pull out Rivian would die overnight. I don't think either...
I'm really hoping Rivian addresses this soon. I have a second pre order and I'm not inclined to take delivery if they still do this (or pull to the right which wasn't fixed on my R1T).
I just got the email to configure my second pre order, which was placed in August 2022. Pretty shocked it's this early, given the expected pre order backlog and capacity. I'm waiting for the dual motor max pack for this one though. Might even switch to an R1S...
Last year was Rivians first real year dealing with customers, product issues, deliveries, etc and I think that is to blame for all of the moves. RJ and team had to take an objective and critical look at where they were strong and where they could improve.
I'm not blaming this person...
I'm just waiting for them to allow me to select a vehicle config at all. They don't want to lock in pricing, but curious on the timeline. We placed a second order for a R1T in August, hoping for a dual Max pack. I'm guessing we won't be able to config until August of 2023 at the earliest.
With Tesla, you need to time it like the stock market, although it is a bit easier to do. The model Y without radar, without USS, and a bunch of other features removed was nowhere close to a $70k vehicle. The people who were willing to pay that kept everyone else from being able to get one at a...
No mention of the Tesla armor glass this go around.
They still refuse to say how much of the actual weight is cargo versus the base weight of the vehicle + trailer. That's a huge issue.
I noticed Tesla decided to go with a tri-motor design instead of the quad motors they discussed initially...
