It's better than a lot of options, but it looks pretty far from the amenities, and the space between is blacktop. That will be hot in the summer and you'll get soaked if it's raining more than a drizzle.
Long term the ideal will be truck stops and travel centers with 24/7 amenities plus solar roofs and some battery storage to smooth electricity demands and lessen demand charges and grid infrastructure requirements. Lots of roof space potential with the traditional pull-through style of "fueling"...
5 days left in the quarter, counting today, and they're on a slower pace this quarter than last. They added 18 stations (going from 20 to 38) in Q2. So far they've added just 13 (38 to 51) in Q3. I wonder if they're still part constrained on the chargers or if this is kind of the pace they want...
Eventually EV charging will be like hotel internet. They'll see it as a revenue center at first, but it will eventually become an expected included amenity and most parking spaces will have EVSEs.

ah yes! Those Torx bits are a critical one! That's a perfect example of what I was hoping to get out of this, aside from general wisdom of the crowd. A set of screwdrivers doesn't do any good if you don't have the right bit!
My first tool addition was a Klein ratcheting screwdriver that does...
What tools does everyone here have in their Rivian 1) at all times and 2) extra for a road trip? Screwdrivers? hammer? Wrenches? Pliers? Pry bar?
What size wrenches, sockets, and bits are most essential for a Rivian?
Bonus question: what do you keep the car tools in?
I’ve been updating my...
They seem to add new “coming soon” at random points rather than just once per quarter. I’d love to see a big dump of new pins, but I don’t necessarily expect it anytime specific.
That means Mackinaw City is officially #50. The Count will be thrilled by the news!
12 days left in the quarter. 18 pins officially "coming soon." Will be interesting to see how many they finish with. Last quarter there was a small surge at the end of the quarter. I hope there's another one!
Blech! That $0.99 session fee is painful as a % of the total cost. FWIW, if there's any chance of doing 2 sessions with EVGo in the same month, it's worth changing to their Basic tier. That tier is $0.99/month but has $0.00 for the session fee, so even 1 session per month is breakeven. Rate is...
Well… I no longer care at all if I keep a Tesla from charging because Tesla’s cable is too short and I have to “block a charger by parking in the wrong spot”. I just took the last EV charging spot out of 12 at my transit station. 5 teslas are parked in EV charging spots and not plugged in.
I’m...
What is the tax in AZ?
GA's is 26c per 11kWh, randomly enough. We also have a $210.87 EV tag fee. Both of those are theoretically intended to offset the lost revenue from the state motor fuel tax, although it already takes a pretty significant number of miles or really bad mpg to hit $210.87...
Just got an email that EVGo is now charging by kWh in GA instead of the previous time-based charge. It will also have variable rates based on day and time of day. I guess that means GA's new law has taken affect to permit this. More and more states will be moving this direction.
Also means...
Nothing soon for RAN. Long term there will probably be RAN sites in or near Portland, Augusta, Bangor, Baring, and Medway in ME. Lincoln in NH. That's based on their original map anyway.
Every time I see this I wonder why they didn't mention the Whittier, NC RAN station as well. It's <5 miles from the southern end of the BRP and fills a huge gap in charging infrastructure.
Oh goodness, there would be a lot of people in GA without any way to get to work if that kind of rule were enforced here. And I'm not talking about out in the country. I'm talking ATL and its wealthy suburbs...
