  1. Self driving update: Gen 2 and Gen 3 Autonomy on R2 should be similar for a "couple of years"

Fine, but I'm not buying a Tesla. So that's meaningless for me.
  2. Self driving update: Gen 2 and Gen 3 Autonomy on R2 should be similar for a "couple of years"

The other problem is assuming Rivian can’t do a better job faster.
  3. 500-800 miles from Service Center......from those with Rivian experience....how risky will this be?

This is something that Rivian needs to deal with. I've heard from one of the Rivian channels on Youtube that they are going to be giving repair manuals to independent service providers to help cover the big increase of Rivians on the road with the R2. Has anyone head from Rivian directly on such...
  4. June 9 - R2 order invites, first customer deliveries and demo drives begin!

How long will it take to install all the AAA batteries?
  5. Self driving update: Gen 2 and Gen 3 Autonomy on R2 should be similar for a "couple of years"

You are overstating (at least) what is reqïred to implement such a system. Rivian is going to have it done in not that many years. Their tech is improving at a pretty good rate. You believe what you want, but spewing massive word salad tomes doesn't make what's happening not true. And...
  6. Self driving update: Gen 2 and Gen 3 Autonomy on R2 should be similar for a "couple of years"

Not sure where you are getting your information, but it's nowhere connected to reality. Telsa has the self-driving in their cars now, and after all these years it's working pretty good. Rivian has laid out their path to self-driving, and you simply have to look to see it. All this speculation...
  7. June 9 - R2 order invites, first customer deliveries and demo drives begin!

The recent email said that too. No biggie, I live 15 minutes from a showroom. I'll book it long before I get one.
  8. June 9 - R2 order invites, first customer deliveries and demo drives begin!

I doubt there are any differences that will be noticeable about the driving experience. Maybe the suspension will be a bit different, but I'm more interested in the overall driving feel, and the size of the interior. (I'm rather tall.) Not so much the difference in zoom.
  9. June 9 - R2 order invites, first customer deliveries and demo drives begin!

I would bet Rivian is intensely interested in how they can make the largest number of people happy on this front. No matter what they do, there are going to be unhappy people that blame Rivian and not their own self-centered unreasonable demands. I'm hoping I won't have any trouble getting a...
  10. Self driving update: Gen 2 and Gen 3 Autonomy on R2 should be similar for a "couple of years"

Depends on how old you are, no? Your assumptions about what is happening are quite off base. Out of the blue? The current vehicles will self-drive with time (a year or two, not many years into the future). We don't need all cars on planet Earth to be self-driving for it to be useful. No doubt...
  11. June 9 - R2 order invites, first customer deliveries and demo drives begin!

That's an interesting question. I wonder if the Performance trim's lack of the alternate custom interior is tied to the early launch package? Once that's over I would suspect the extra colors and interior will be unlocked. I think it makes sense that ramping up production will influence when...
  12. June 9 - R2 order invites, first customer deliveries and demo drives begin!

Seems a lot of "angels dancing on the head of a pin" speculation about the precise meaning of words and phrases that do not deserve credibility. We'll know exactly how it works when we each get our invitations, and when happens when we each decide when to buy. Until then, it's all speculation...
  13. Self driving update: Gen 2 and Gen 3 Autonomy on R2 should be similar for a "couple of years"

They have made it pretty clear that it's not just a mule for training. It will eventually be able to do more that cars not equipped with the gen 3 chip. But you're going to have to wait for several years for that to pay off. At first, it's going to be the mule. And I for one don't mind...
  14. Self driving update: Gen 2 and Gen 3 Autonomy on R2 should be similar for a "couple of years"

Another factor will be if one plans to keep the car for more than two or three years. If not, such as if they are leasing it, no reason to wait. Same for those not enamored of level 4 driving anyway. Or at least the edge cases where LIDAR will eventually make somewhat of a difference. I only...
  15. June 9 - R2 order invites, first customer deliveries and demo drives begin!

Okay, they're learning! That's cool. But why so specific about San Francisco? Palo Alto may be nearby, but not sure why that specifically would be a reason. The factory is thousands of miles away.
  16. June 9 - R2 order invites, first customer deliveries and demo drives begin!

I think people are reading into thing they are saying a little too much. Obviously the process is going to be complex based on when you made your reservation, ownership of R1s, how close to a service center you are, and a possibility of being picked randomly. But how much of each trim is being...
  17. June 9 - R2 order invites, first customer deliveries and demo drives begin!

What wold make you believe such a conspiracy, and why would you buy from a company you believe would do that?
  18. R1S vs R2 = Tier 1 Luxury vs Entry Level EV?

That is interesting and pretty much convinces me not to switch from my R2 reservation to a used R1. That suspension is going to be a bugger to repair, as compelling as it is.
  19. We will know our R2 delivery by the end of June.

I suppose it could be they are going to be able to get accurate numbers based on how many orders are in the pipeline. R1 owners are hardly going to be priority if they wait until December to put their order in. You get priority based on when you actually order I would guess. So they know the...
