Another reason to wait for the gen 3 hardware. I'm not letting some agent living at Google or anywhere else, listen to me. Nope. Not a chance. I'll wait for the local language model to give me what I need. I can find my own songs on Tidal in the meantime.
Sadly, not likely for a while for the R2. But I have 821 credit rating (and it's going up), so I can probably find a good deal elsewhere if Rivian doesn't cut me a good rate.
When I was at the local Rivian space, he told me there had been 0 percent and .9 percent deals for R1s over the past several months, and that they vary the terms regularly.
I suspect that Rivian won't let it happen. But of course in the great scheme of things, it won't matter to me personally. And I see your point about making the reservation with keeping in mine how it goes down for those you reserved R2s for..
For me? I want the upgraded Gen 3 electronics in...
If you want smaller, you might wait for the R3. I started interested in that, but wanted something a bit bigger. So the R2 is perfect for me. I have a Subaru Crosstrek, and it's too small. The SO has a Subaru Ascent and it's gigantic. No interest in that big. So the R2 hits me as perfect. But...
We're already in. I only reserved mine on April 10th, and they told me I could configure mine in June. So everybody gets to configure in June. Doesn't mean we're getting them in July.
Lucky me, I get a free portable charger and adapters I would rarely need. I have a Tesla NACS charger at home as of yesterday. But the moment I don't need a specific adapter I'll need one for some wonky reason.
Sign me up!
No way to specify that I want the next generation electronics with LIDAR. I'm sure that will be included when I actually order it next month. (According to the email, I should be able to do so in June.)
Pedantic continuity time, Mac is not an acronym.
I can understand their preference for self-driving. And it certainly makes sense to stay in the family ecosystem. From what I've seen, by the time the R2 is in our hands, we'll be in Level 3 pretty soon afterwards, and it's already close without...
No doubt. They have someone else make the matrix headlights, but they write the software. So it can be a combination of things. But they will control the headlines, and LIDAR, and anything else that they put in the car as a cohesive whole. They aren't going to give up control of the core system.
I think their profitability being a few years away is just fine. How long did they go before being profitable. And when they scale up to 400,000 units a year, we'll see if they made the right choice. It's not like the competition is an example of success in this area by any means. Tesla being...
So they lost the incentives last September. They were optimistic anyway. Now there's a war and gas here in So. Cal. is higher than $6 with no end in sight. (Fingers crossed.) If you don't anticiapte a bumpy road, you're going to get thrown.
You seem to have missed my point. Maybe not. But the point of having the whole stack in-house is they are not beholden to anyone else and can make their own mistakes, and move in a different direction without the nonsense of the politics of dealing with independent decision-makers.
Rivian seems...
