    They replaced the entire front drive unit, which includes the two motor and the inverter. The first replacement was a bit noisy and they determined that it was also faulty and replaced that one as well. I do not want to panic anybody here.     No... Let your insurance company handle it. If you haven't already, contact them immediately. They will deal with reaching out to the other driver and/or their insurance. That's their job. A police report should also be filed immediately.

    The problem is usually a little play in the splines of the telescoping drive line(s). I do not think it is a safety issue, just annoying.

    I had my knocking fixed early on. Lubed the splines, torqued some bolts and whatnot. When the sounds reappeared, they replaced my front drive unit... twice.
