+1 for making this an always on option! There are too many times that it’s dusk but not dark enough for the headlights to go on, but the ambient lighting doesn’t turn on. I’d like the ambient lighting to always stay on! I also wish we had more color options and that it was brighter… but please...
Just picked up a new 2026 Quad R1S. Overall love it! I won’t use this post to mention all the great things, as there is plenty of info on that already. Rather, I’d like to ask some questions (hopefully the Rivian team can read and consider):
1) One rattle — Only noticeable defect I’ve found...
thanks so much, super helpful and appreciated! Buying outright from the beginning certainly feels cleaner and easier… but if I’m going to save $4k or more… this feels worthwhile. I will try to buyout the lease within 30 days.
Thanks for sharing. Nice to hear but as you said, hard to validate. Apple Maps or Apple CarPlay would certainly offer much more privacy, choice and functionality for consumers. I don’t trust Google. I know numerous people who love the Rivian but won’t buy it because of lack of CarPlay. I love...
you obviously haven’t used it recently. It’s by far a more beautiful map with much better layouts and 3-D capabilities. Their directions are good and they offer multiple route options. Plus, they don’t track your data the way Google does and it fits extremely well in the Apple ecosystem (I.e...
Apple Maps is by far better both aesthetically and with multiple route options. Google is better (at the moment) if searching for points of interest on a map… But Rivian should have gone with Apple if they were choosing an underlying map.
Or as we all know (but Rivian can’t see yet), they...
not really, because if people want to buy a computer focused electric vehicle, which gets regular software updates and better over time, they really only have three options, Rivian, Lucid and Tesla. So Rivian really needs to keep their software and technology options up to speed.
Happy to see this update, it’s been much-needed for quite a while. It should have been done years ago. Frankly I would have rather they used Apple Maps, which are much more beautiful. But truly, they should allow CarPlay so that people can choose the maps they want, including OnX for off-road...
perhaps, but with such a nice line of LEDs in the back, they truly could provide more visibility than just the small hazard lights at the edges. They could flash quickly or in different patterns to help alert other drivers… But they should be of similar brightness to the hazard lights and they...
thanks, but this has nothing to do with energy, these LEDs would use almost nothing compared to the motors or headlights or any other system. They would last for a very long time in this scenario. It’s a little mind-boggling why they would be so dim if they are meant to be used for awareness.
The GEN2 vehicles have a feature where you can have a directional hazard warning using the front and rear light strips. It will flash yellow in a left, right or both direction pattern. But it’s extremely dim! Rivian even acknowledges that it’s dim and suggest it’s mostly for night time. But even...
If the tri-motor has 312 horsepower in the front motor and if only one front wheel is touching the ground off road... does that mean through differential braking, the other wheel on the ground gets the entire 312 horse power to one wheel? Would this mean an individual wheel on the tri-motor can...
what I’m saying is, that for 2026 there does not appear to be any single new feature. Even something as simple as a pin code to lock the center console would have been a useful item that people could use every day. I valet my car a lot and never feel comfortable having no place to leave more...
Yes, but this is also a 2026 model, not a 2025, so something new (like better sound system or an actual locking glove box or center console) would have been nice, as it shows they are working on fixing issues they have. Again, that is a minor point. I'm mostly surprised that those who have had...
Respectfully, aside from NACS, the others are cute but rarely used gimmicks. And launch green isn't a feature, it's a limitation... why can't people choose the color they want?? And why don't reservation holders get anything for standing in line for a year?? Anyone can order (these two...
Why did anyone put down a $3k deposit a year ago if you anyone can just buy a Launch Edition today??? Shouldn't people who put a deposit down awhile ago, be allowed to at least order the color they want??
Thanks, this is very helpful. I find it surprising that Rivian would allow their flagship model to be out in the public (as one of the very first ones) without having the trim installed properly!
thank you Gonzo. That is helpful information. Did he happen to say when / where he picked up the vehicle? I'm wondering if it's newly built and they've started production... or if it's from past June when they built initial cars for debut.
