  1. Discontinuation of 21” wheels

For the 2023 it is in AP. I believe the 2024 rules changed and would require the test is done in Conserve, however they never resubmitted quad test results in 2024 so it probably doesn't apply until they resubmit. I have a feeling the 2025 refresh is just going to drop conserve the way the dual...
  2. Discontinuation of 21” wheels

He only covered Tesla tires. And honestly, it's not really that accurate. Specifically out of the sizes he compared, only the 18 and 19 inch Model 3 tires were the same width. The model X and Model S tires were different widths. I agree with him that out of those specific tire choices the...
  3. Discontinuation of 21” wheels

The EPA test results specify the wheels the results apply to. Rivian has released the results for the 2025 Dual Standard/Large/Max and it doesn't include any 21" options. They also didn't include any tri or quad motor options either, so maybe they just tested 21s under a different group that...
  4. Official: 2025 R1T & R1S Refresh / Facelift (2nd Gen) Specs and Photos! Quad Motor gets 1,025 HP and 0-60 in 2.5 Seconds!!!

Yea, but these things are always supposed to be after the announcement, someone put the wrong time zone in
  5. Discontinuation of 21” wheels

Yes, exactly, it's total weight (and weight distribution) that matters. If a bigger tire wheel is 5 pounds heavier, but it means it needs 7lbs less of rubber, then it reduces the wheel mass and very likely reduces the rotational inertia which is what you care about for weight. The reason the...
  6. Discontinuation of 21” wheels

I'd like to fact check the weight thing, steel has a better strength to weight ratio than rubber (much more so, that's why we don't build cars out of rubber). Do you have the actual weight for a Rivian tire in each size, and the associated wheels? That said, unsprung weight is only going to...
  7. Overcharging for tire rotation

The vans do, but when they came to me they showed up in an R1T, I didn't see anything that looked like a balancing machine in the bed.
  8. Overcharging for tire rotation

Yea, I'll be honest, I only did the Rivian Mobile service because they were coming for warranty work anyways, figured see what they do. The pics from the EDV mobile service units show they can do a balance. I'm not sure I'd request a balance though, probably only if it feels like it needs it
  9. Discontinuation of 21” wheels

I guess I'm confused why people would think it's anything other than better? Rolling resistance depends heavily depends on the elastic hysteresis of the material. Steel and aluminum have much less hysteresis and thus result in lower rolling resistance, so the less rubber the better the rolling...
  10. Overcharging for tire rotation

SC guy said it's an internal code that's supposed to be credited back (so I think it's the code for the labor hours for the tech that they are suppose to discount down to zero).
  11. Overcharging for tire rotation

As I posted above, the closest discount tire is > 1000mi away, the closest Dunn Tire (owned by Discount Tire) is 200+mi away.
  12. Overcharging for tire rotation

Yea, took me 3 weeks to get the guy from the SC on the phone, but he immediately confirmed that they overcharged me by $86 for a tire rotation and offered to send a refund. Insane it takes that long to get them to fix a simple billing issue. And all these people mentioning Americas Tire, I'm on...
  13. EPA Filling for additional 2025 models (R1 Refresh) -- Dual Max, All-Terrain Dual Max, Performance Dual Max, and All-Terrain Performance Dual Max

The problem is the EPA testing is primarily concerned with annual emissions and annual cost to drive. My average annual speed is about 25mph, and that's counting many road trips. EPA numbers are actually pretty accurate. The problem is using what's really an annual number, MPGe, and using that...
  14. New R1 Refresh spotted photos! [Updated w/ New Wheel Aero Covers pic]

I think difierianting the packages is a big part of the refresh. They can and should cut cost anywhere they can for a family hauler. The R2 is the extreme of that. They also have the quad, which some people want a great off roader, some people want a dragster. Well you can pay extra and get all...
  15. New R1 Refresh spotted photos! [Updated w/ New Wheel Aero Covers pic]

There are lot of reasons why you might see these changes, and they very likely are for cost reasons that might not readily apparent. It may have turned out that the front shape caused problems with molding and they were getting caused extra because of it. Or it could just be that something in...
  16. New R1 Refresh spotted photos! [Updated w/ New Wheel Aero Covers pic]

Well number one is the manufacturer plate, so this is owned by Rivian 100%. It's either the refresh or they are coming out with an official blackout package. Also, I compared them, the mirror is clearly different, the taillights look different from this too, not sure if that's just lighting though
  17. Layout of local Supercharger. What would you do?

Yea, hard to see the layout from the pics you have. In general, I'd attempt spots that take extra non-charing spots over spots that block charging. And in a site like this, making someone park ass out into the lane is fine too, it's wide and plenty of space. My last time at a supercharger...
  18. Layout of local Supercharger. What would you do?

Option 1 is always the far right stall, you can park to the right of it and not block spaces. Option 2 is the far left stall, you can park diagonally and only block a non-charging space. Options 3 would be aim for one of those stalls with two on the same line, you can charge on the wrong side...
