I use ABRP and customize my route. In general you want to pull into a charger with 10%-20% battery left and leave before you hit 80%. Since I usually travel with kids, I pick stops that have bathrooms and places to walk around. I usually end up overcharging because we take our time.
Going 75+...
I had a 2022 Quad R1T and currently have a 2025 Dual Performance R1S. I'd pick the Gen 2 over Gen 1 any day. The camera quality alone is enough to make me want to switch. Gen 1 had potato cameras.
I honestly don't notice much of a difference in terms of performance. The only thing I really...
Biggest issue I had with my R1T was how small the back seat it. Its barely wider than a Model Y and had less leg room. F150 Lightning has a huge backseat. When my lease is up in 2 years going to have a hard choice between R1T and F150 Lightning (if its still being produced).
My wife is leasing a Mach E right now and she doesn't really like it. We will likely buyout the lease and sell it when the R2 comes out. She likes my R1S, she just wants something a bit smaller, so R2 will fit the bill.
I went from my 2022 R1T to a 2024 Lightning Lariat. The main thing for me was how small the backseat was in my R1T compared to the Lightning.
Really its comes down to size for me. If you don't need as much interior and bed room, I'd take R1T over the Lightning. If you need room in either area...
Moving from mechanical to electric doors is the biggest blunder Rivian made from Gen 1 to Gen 2. 12V dead, good luck getting in. Get into an accident, front passengers can leave while back passengers have to climb to the front, because no one is going to remember which panel to remove to get to...
I think in general, the 100% range number is going to be less. The only exception is Large+ packs like my Dual Motor R1S has. It will charge past 100% into the "extra" battery cells so it can display 330 miles of range at 100%.
This isn't a Rivian issue either. My F150 Lightning used to be...
I'm actually surprised you had so many issues. About 1 month after I got my R1S the 12v died along with some other components. It spent 5 weeks in the shop. Before week 4 even started I asked for a buyback. The service center sent my request right away. My R1S was eventually fixed, and a month...
I had my R1S for about a month before the 12v died, a module failed and it sat in service for 5 weeks. After that its been fine other than a rattle I need to get fixed sometime. I leased, but when the lease is up I will likely lease another R1S, or R1T if my family can deal with less interior room.
